Attention all parents, the IYAA (Italy Youth Athletic Association) will be conducting basketball signups on Wednesday, November 30, and again on December 3, 5 and 8.
The Final day for 2015-2016 IYAA Basketball Signups will be held tomorrow, Saturday, December 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon inside the building located next to Citizens National Bank in downtown Italy. Registration fee is $65.00. Forms Will Not be accepted without payment. First come first serve so reserve your roster spot quickly.
The Italy Youth Athletic Association (IYAA) 5th-6th Grade Boys basketball team traveled the hardest road by playing 5 games in one day to earn 2nd place in the 2015 Hillsboro Boys Basketball Tournament.
The IYAA Basketball season ends with our two Italy 5th and 6th Grade Boys teams squaring off on the rectangle for 5 periods of play and our two Italy 5th and 6th Grade Girls teams matching up against one another.
The Italy Youth Athletic Association (IYAA) welcomed teams from Whitney, Clifton and West into George E. Scott Coliseum on Saturday for three games of exciting youth basketball.
The 3rd and 4th grade girls IYAA basketball team played in Hillsboro this past Saturday morning. After a long game, and a very impressive 4th quarter, they lost 14 – 6.
The IYAA will be holding its final basketball signup tomorrow on Saturday, December 6, at the Upchurch Ballpark concession stand from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

IYAA basketball sign-ups between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. tonight, Thursday, December 15, and again on Saturday, December 17, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. inside the old Italy gym on both days.
IYAA Basketball Picture Day is scheduled for Tuesday, February 15 inside the old Italy gym. Each team has been assigned a time slot to have each individual player and team pictures taken.

The Italy Youth Athletic Association (IYAA) hit the gym floor running this past Saturday to open their 2011 basketball season. The IYAA entered ten teams in five separate divisions and over one-hundred players ready to compete against teams representing the Hillsboro Sports Association.
Final IYAA Basketball Sign-ups are scheduled for Thursday, December 16 and Saturday, December 18. Eligible players are kindergarten thru 6th grades. There will be no sign-ups allowed after Saturday so please do not delay.
As you enter George E. Scott Memorial Gymnasium, a faint cheering of fans can be heard as excitement fills the lobby where trophy after trophy reminds us of our great Lady Gladiator and Gladiator legends from the past. After grabbing a snack from the concession stand, guests make their way into the gym where the intensity on the court merges with the roar of the crowd. It’s game time again!
The IYAA will be passing out end of the season basketball trophies and coaches plaques in front of Game On Athletics during their grand opening on Saturday, March 27, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Meet Game On Athletics owner, Erick Thompson, and have a hotdog!
What a way to end the 2010 season of IYAA Basketball! In the first two games on Tuesday, Italy teams earned back-to-back wins over visiting Hillsboro. In the finale, Italy 31 pulled off the upset against, undefeated, Italy 29 in one of the most exciting games in the history of IYAA Sports.
With the season coming to a close, this is just the beginning for IYAA’s basketball players whose careers are just getting started. Due to scheduling conflicts, the IYAA hosted four games on Thursday inside the old Italy gym.
The IYAA’s week 7 of basketball was packed with thrilling shots, expert ball handling, precision passing and plenty of smiling faces. The players have been working hard in their practices resulting in big moments during the games. Good luck to the players and coaches as the season comes to an end….Finish Strong!
George E. Scott Coliseum — With teams trying to improve their position in the standings, excitement was in the air. Performing in front of a packed gym, IYAA players put their skills on display and made their parents, grandparents and coaches proud.
The IYAA will be conducting its 2nd Baseball/Softball sign-ups on Saturday, February 13 inside the old Italy High School gym from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The IYAA and Hillsboro sports Association will proceed with the Saturday, February 13 games as scheduled. The Italy Gladiators (boys) will play Itasca at 2:00 in Itasca on Saturday as well. The Lady Gladiators will take on Bosqueville in the first round of the playoffs at West High School on Monday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m
Week 5 had it’s share of great shots, nice passes and fancy dribbling. The players really enjoy playing the games and the fans do a great job cheering them on. If you like excitement, stop by George E. Scott Coliseum next Saturday and check out the next generation of incredible athletes.
George E. Scott Coliseum — The IYAA basketball players, coaches and fans enjoyed an exciting Week 4 of competition on Saturday. There were several close games to keep the crowd entertained and plenty of special memories were made. The kind of memories that will last a lifetime.
George E. Scott Coliseum — IYAA Basketball, Week 3, saw it’s share of exciting finishes, amazing plays and gutsy performances. Sydney Lowenthal even swished a “granny shot” for goodness sake. The most exciting moments of Week 3 matched one Italy team against another. With bragging rights on the line, all the players gave it their all and then congratulated one another after the game.
Week 2 of the IYAA basketball season was a day of firsts for many young hoopsters. Whether Saturday marked the first time an aspiring athlete made his or her first basket, of their whole life, or whether it was a team’s first win of the season, the IYAA is where many “first moments” happen for future Gladiators, Bulldogs, Eagles and Polar Bears.
The IYAA (Italy Youth Athletic Association) enjoyed Opening Day on Saturday as the 2010 basketball season is underway. Teams from Italy and Hillsboro celebrated the spirit of competition together in what proved to be a fun and exciting day for youth sports.
Monday marked the first day of basketball practice for the IYAA basketball players. Excitement was in the air as teammates made acquaintances and then ran drills in preparation for the opening day games on Saturday.
The 2010 Basketball season is underway and practices will begin Monday, January 4. The rosters have been created and coaches will be contacting their players with practice schedule information.

CiCi’s pizza boxes lined the front foyer of Italy’s old gym Saturday afternoon. Italy Youth Athletic Association hosted the end-of-the-year basketball bash for all the participants in this year’s season. With pizza, drinks, cookies and, of course, basketball time, the season just wouldn’t be over without the announcements, trophies and honors.
The IYAA is having its end of the year “Basketball Bash” March 28th at 4:00 p.m. at the “Old Italy Gym.” And just like shooting a free throw, we hope you can make it!
The IYAA finished it’s 2009 basketball season Tuesday night at the Old Italy Gym. 6th and 5th grade girls and boys competed one last time before the 6th graders move on to Junior High. We wish them all the best of luck next year and trust they’ll carry fond memories of their careers in the IYAA.
The IYAA begins wrapping up another successful season and is proud of all our student athletes, their parents and grandparents for helping to make this year one of the best!

IYAA – It’s that time of the season when all the hard work and practice starts falling into place. Week 7 was about making that first layup in your whole life, finally getting the ball over the front of the rim to make your first free throw ever and that moment you realize you could be pretty good at this game.
The Old Italy Gym – The IYAA is a fun time for families and friends to come together and enjoy exciting youth sports. IYAA Basketball is a perfect example of this with Week 5 now in the books.

The 2009 IYAA Basketball squads showed off their moves, elevated their games and tried to reach their respective goals Saturday. After the last buzzer sounded and the final flash snapped, fond memories of the days events reflected across the Old Italy Gym floor.
IYAA tipped-off the 2009 basketball season against Hillsboro sporting stylish white and gold uniforms printed by "Lil’ Dab Emroidery” in Italy. The action was fast-paced at the legendary Old Italy Gym as the IYAA’s young stars showcased their talents.
