Good luck to Italy’s Head Coach/AD David Weaver and the Gladiators who will be taking on Hubbard in Jaguar country tonight starting at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are unbeaten in district play so fan support is paramount! Italy comes off a key 34-27 win over Chilton.
There will be a fan bus for Italy High School students who would like to attend the football game in Hubbard Friday. The bus will leave the football field at 6 on Friday. Permission slips will go home with high school students Tuesday and must be returned, to Mrs. Ballard, by the close of business on Wednesday. Students should pay close attention to the weather for Friday and dress appropriately.

The Italy High School Athletic Department will be hosting the annual Homecoming Bonfire Wednesday, September 30, behind the Jimmy Davis Memorial Field House, same as last year. The community is asked to start arriving at 7:30 p.m. and then ceremonial lighting of the bonfire will be around 8:30 p.m.
The Mighty Italy Gladiators (0-2) in their menacing new uniforms are ‘All In’ as they have their sites set on the Blooming Grove Lions (1-1) in a non-district, week three showdown Friday night at the Grove. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. Go Gladiators! Carpe Diem!!
The Italy ISD Administration Office will start selling season passes to the home football games beginning Monday, August 24, 2015. The first home game is Friday, August 28th. Passes will be $30.00 each.

Italy Gladiator Football will mixup its Varsity and JV squads for an intersquad scrimmage this coming Saturday, August 8, starting at 9:00 a.m. to wrap up their first week of two-a-days. Fans are invited to attend the event and there will be a parent meeting in the stands immediately following the action. White Towel Donations Needed!

Coach Weaver would like to remind the community that we still have two camps to take advantage of during the summer. Football Camp is NEXT WEEK, and Volleyball Camp will be the week following. Softball Camp will be during Spring Break this year. It is not too late to sign up! Walk-ups are welcome, and we will take all paperwork and payments on first day of camp.

The Heart of Texas Fellowship of Christian Athletes announced has selected senior Gladiator football player Kyle Fortenberry to participate in their 7th Annual 2015 All-Star Victory Bowl to be held at Waco ISD Stadium on June 13. KICK OFF will be at 6:30 p.m.

Senior football players, cheerleaders, cross country participants, and band members will be recognized during this Friday night’s football game against Dallas Gateway. The Gladiators had momentum coming off a 48-26 win against Dawson but the highly ranked Chilton Pirates defended their home turf with an important district win over Italy.

The Gladiators feel the sting of the Meridian Yellowjackets after a 48-26 district loss to their old time foes. The Gladiators will no doubt look to rebound in their homecoming matchup against visiting Dawson on Friday.
The Italy Gladiators score their first points of the 2014 season and win their district opener over the Frost Polar Bears 35-19 with senior Gladiator running back Coby Jeffords rushing for 5 touchdowns.
The Italy Gladiators were off to a strong start against visiting Blooming Grove but injuries turned the tide in favor of the Lions.
The Gladiators begin their 2014 campaign 0-2 after a loss to Maypearl but hope to get on track against the Blooming Grove Lions this coming Friday in what will be Italy’s first home game.
The JV Gladiators showed promise but the visiting Maypearl JV showed up ready to play on Thursday at historic Willis Field in Italy.
The Gladiators gave it their all and battled to the end in a losing effort against Kerens but hope to right their war chariots against rival Maypearl this Friday night.

The Gladiators received an influx of new players while already relying on younger players to fill their varsity roster. Therefore, Head Coach Charles Tindol played them all in a scrimmage against Palmer’s best. Freshman thru seniors, every Italy player was a varsity Gladiator this past Thursday.

The Gladiator Football JV and varsity squads will play their first scrimmage tomorrow, Saturday, August 16th. This will be the traditional “White Towel Scrimmage” and they ask that everyone bring a white towel (or two) to donate to the football program. A donation box will be available. Scrimmage starts at 10:00am at the IHS practice field (vs Valley Mills).
With their patchy home field on the mend, the Italy Gladiators are plugging in younger players to fill in gaps at the varsity ranks with two-a-day workouts underway.
The athletic department will be conducting physicals for incoming student-athletes inside the Italy Coliseum Dome on Thursday, July 31 at 1:00 p.m. All school bus drivers (Bus Drivers/Coaches/Teachers) will also be required to have a physical and will need to attend.

TaMarcus Sheppard and Darol Mayberry will represent Italy in the 6th Annual Super Centex FCA Victory Bowl, as members of the Red Team, while Shad Newman and Zain Byers will be representing Italy during the 3rd Annual North Texas Bowl DFW East/West Classic All-Star game being played at Pennington Field as members of the West Squad.

The cost has been lowered to $10.00 per shirt and will make great keepsakes or christmas gift, jazz up any trophy case or wall of fame and can even live on forever as part of a school spirited quilt.
The Italy Gladiators dominated their district competition for an undefeated 5-0 district championship and then amassed 32 all-district awards to top the list.
The Collinsville Pirates end Italy’s playoff run before it could really begin after a first-quarter injury to senior Gladiator quarterback, TaMarcus Sheppard, helped sink Italy’s hopes for an area championship.
