One year ago Jeannie Richardson met with a few women in Milford and together they decided to form the “Titus Women’s Club”. Their mission was to unite the women of Milford and to be Jesus in their community by meeting one another’s needs and encouraging each other to be all they can be in Christ.
The 4-H Horse Club of Ellis County will have its first meeting of the school year on Thursday, September 3, at 6 p.m. at the Flying Dollar Ranch, located at 230 Chambers Dr., Italy, Texas. If you are interested in becoming a member or learning what 4-H is about, please attend this meeting.
Due to inclement weather and a soggy arena, the Yearling Clinic at the Flying Dollar Ranch, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 14, has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Local horse kids and their families celebrated Ellis County Equine Association’s 25th birthday with a party on March 1 at the Flying Dollar Ranch in Italy. Participants enjoyed cake, ice cream, a horse shoe tournament and a rowdy game of “hot potato.”
Did you know the Boys Scouts of America are in Italy? It’s a small group of young men but strong in spirit. This school year they have sold popcorn, helped area churches with different programs, hosted a canned food drive for the local food pantry and have lots more ideas for the rest of the year.
National Honor Society and Student Council are sponsoring their annual canned food drive at Italy High School. The food will be donated to the local food pantry. From Nov. 4-Dec 12, students are able to bring non-perishable items to their homeroom teacher.
On November 6th, the Titus Women’s club held their monthly meeting and the main topic discussed was starting a coat drive.
Buckles were shining and the smell of new saddles was in the air recently as Ellis County Equine Association (ECEA) awarded its year-end winners at the club’s annual awards banquet at the Flying Dollar Ranch in Italy.
Titus Women’s Club is hosting a bake sale on Saturday, November 15 in Milford in front of Cash Grocers on Highway 77. The time of this event is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On behalf of the Italy Lions Club we want to say thank you to one and all who helped us to raise over $200 for our scholarship fund. We would also like to express gratitude for everything donated to the food drive for The Italy Ministerial Alliance.
The Prime Timers luncheon was held Wednesday, November 8, at Central Baptist Church. You really don’t want to miss one of these luncheons — the food is fabulous. There was sausage, brisket, a variety of vegetables and desserts.
Central Baptist Prime Timers will meet Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 113 S. Ward in Italy at noon. Church will furnish the brisket and sausage and everyone attending may bring a dish. Italy Police Chief, C.V. Johns will share information on ways to protect from identity theft. Anyone 55+ is encouraged to attend.
The Prime Timers of Central Baptist Church in Italy hosted more than 50 people Wednesday at the kickoff of its monthly luncheon.
The Ellis County Equine Youth Association invites all area horse kids to ride in the ECEYA Fundraiser and Fun Horse Show on Saturday, September 20, at the Flying Dollar Ranch in Italy, Texas. The show begins at 9 a.m. and includes halter, western, English, leadline and speed events.
About a dozen Italy residents attended a meeting Thursday night to learn more about the Italy Chamber of Commerce.
Two Italy youth were selected to serve on the Junior Board of Directors for the Texas Shorthorn Association. Bailey Eubank and Bailey DeBorde were selected in the 2008 annual meeting of the Texas Junior Shorthorn Association. The information was released by the Texas Shorthorn Association in Olton Texas in an August 12, 2008 announcement.
