Parents, please remark your calendars for Tuesday, March 1st. Your student will be taking the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness test this spring. Please join us in learning more about the test as well as how to help your child be successful.

Stafford Elementary would like to thank the Italy Police Department and the Italy Fire Department for another successful “Shop with A Hero.” We appreciate all you do for the students at Stafford Elementary.
Stafford Elementary Gifted and Talented & Student Council students volunteered to assist the Dallas North Texas Food Bank to sort and prepare items for distribution to local food banks.
UIL Competition: 27 students placed in various activities, but here are a few of the Stafford Elementary UIL Academic Competition winners being recognized at the Monthly Board Meeting held on December 14th. Thanks to parents, students, and coaching staff for our 3rd place finish and all students placing in the numerous events.
Parents and Guardians we would like to remind you that Friday, December 18 will be Early Release. We will dismiss at 12:00 p.m. Christmas Break will be from December 21,2015-January 4, 2016.
Stafford Elementary 4th grade students with Mrs. Hellner, Mrs. Garcia & Mrs. Spraberry traveled to Austin on a Social Studies adventure visiting the State Capitol and Bullock Texas State History Museum.
The monies given are earmarked specifically for science department funds. Both campuses will receive $1,000 this school year and $1,000 in the 2016-2017 school year.
Way to go S.E.S! We have collected 2,147 canned good items for the food pantry. Congratulations to Mrs. Aguado’s PK class! They collected the most canned good items. A big thanks to all the parents/guardians and students for making this a big success!

Italy ISD offers services to gifted and talented students in a variety of formats. If your student is not currently identified as gifted and talented, and you believe that your child shows these tendencies, then you may nominate him/her for the screening process which is divided into three elements: standardized test of mental ability, teacher judgment based on observation and characteristics, and standardized achievement test scores (if available).
Stafford Elementary Library will host its annual Scholastic Book Fair the week of October 12-16. The fair will be open Monday-Thursday from 7:45 a.m. until 3 p.m. and on Friday from 7:45-12 p.m. in the library.
Stafford Elementary will celebrate Spirit Week Monday, September 28th thru Friday, October 2nd.

Stafford Elementary is preparing for their annual Pre-K/Kindergarten Round-Up. Dates for the registration event will be Monday, May 4th, 2015 (8:30am thru 3:00pm) and Tuesday, May 5th, 2015 (5:00pm thru 7:00pm)
Stafford Elementary has scheduled a STAAR Family Information Night. The information meeting will be Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm in the Stafford Elementary cafeteria.

Hats off to Stafford Elementary’s Student Council for doing their part in organizing a canned food drive. With bragging rights on the line, the third grade students in Mrs. Jenna Chambers’ class came out on top as the class who collected the most cans—172 items!

On Veterans Day, the administrators, staff and students of Italy ISD showed their appreciation to local veterans by hosting a program to honor them.
Monday, October 27st thru Friday, October 31st Stafford Elementary will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week with theme dress days and activities that will reinforce good choices regarding drugs.

Imagine, if you will, a giant warehouse filled with pallets holding huge boxes of all kinds of food products. And again imagine standing in front of this sea of boxes and your job is to sort every bit of it. You would think this would be overwhelming right? But not to our Stafford students!
Watch out! You better hide! There are a whole bunch of wild animals in the Stafford Elementary cafeteria. Here they come—run!
After 36 years dedicating her life to teaching and loving her students Jan Shepard has decided to retire. When asked why she was retiring she replied, “I knew I would know when the time was right to retire and I just knew this year was it. The time I spent teaching was wonderful.”
Recently, Corl McCarthy, an IHS senior gave her time and artistic talent to paint Stafford Elementary Library’s new announcement board. Corl remembers being a Stafford Tiger and enjoying her trips to the library. As an upper elementary student, she even assisted Mrs. Burkhalter with shelving and other occasional jobs. When asked to paint a fun border for the announcement board, she agreed to the task.
Madison Dickerson is a very vibrant fifth grader that attends Stafford Elementary. She is smart, pretty, but best of all she has a very compassionate and giving heart. When she heard that April Mathers (1st grade teacher) had cancer and beat it through treatments, Madison wanted to help everyone beat cancer. So, she came up with a way to raise money for St. Jude Hospital.
In an effort to congratulate all of the staff and teachers at Stafford Elementary for all their hard work, new principal Pamela Thomas decided to find an original way of doing this for Teachers and Staff Appreciation Week.
Stafford Elementary is always teaching students the basics in education but they also teach them the art of giving.
Stafford Elementary’s new principal is Pamela Thomas and she is like a breath of fresh air. She has so many ideas for our school. She loves Italy, Stafford Elementary and all it’s teachers and staff.
May 8, 2014: Royal-blue Austin t-shirts on everyone. The roar of a charter bus engine. Shouts of “I’m so excited!” and “It’s finally here!” The grinding sound of ice-chest wheels making their way across the pavement. It was an awesome day to be a Stafford 4th grader! We were loaded and headed to the Capitol Complex in Austin.
Miss Westrick (6th grade science teacher) came up with a great idea to help the students learn and at the same time have a great time.

Pre-kindergarten Round-up at Stafford Elementary will be on May 1,2014 from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Italy ISD is interested in providing an all day free pre-kindergarten to all children in our community who are at least 4 years of age for the 2014-2015 school year. If you are interested and would like your child to have the privilege of attending pre-school for no charge please attend this Round-up meeting. By attending this meeting you will help the school gain information that will be used to develop a cost analysis and proposal to better meet the needs of your children.
Recently Ray Schufford was at Stafford Elementary pumping up the students for their upcoming STAAR tests. You could hear laughter and could see miles of smiles in the gymnasium that day.
