Italy FFA member Alex Jones has a successful run at the State Fair of Texas

On Tuesday, October 4th, Italy High School freshman and Italy FFA member, Alex Jones, showed her heavy weight Dark Cross Barrow, Stewy, at the State Fair of Texas Livestock Show in Dallas. After 5 months of feeding twice a day, exercising once a day, spending weekends at camps and jackpot shows Alex had Stewy ready to compete with other hogs across the state.

Italy FFA Meat and Cookie sales are underway

Students who are enrolled in an agricultural science course or FFA at the high school are selling meat and dessert until October 5th. These items are a huge hit because of the holidays coming up! The orders will be back to you by Thanksgiving if you place an order. An order form will be outside of the high school front office if you would like to place an order.

Letter regarding Italy FFA trip to State FFA Convention in Dallas

High school administration and FFA advisors are aware of what happened in downtown Dallas last night. With State FFA Convention in Dallas around the corner our main priority is student safety. Please know that we will be monitoring this situation in the days to come. We will still be attending convention knowing that some late night activities and off site excursions may be limited.

27th Annual Ellis County Youth Expo — April 4 thru 9

It’s time for the 27th Annual Ellis County Youth Expo! This year, the week of April 4-9, students from Ellis County will have the opportunity to put on display what hard work and dedication truly mean. Students from FFA, 4-H and FCCLA have been planning and preparing their projects for this important week for over a year, in some cases. Each of the exhibitors you will see this week, whether from the Creative Arts, Ag. Mechanics or the Livestock division have great pride and honor in the product they will present.

Italy FFA to host a Chili Cook-Off and Man Sale

Saturday, December 14th the Italy FFA will host a Chili Cook-Off and Man Sale from 5pm to 8pm at the Italy Downtown Pavilion. Entry Deadline for the Chili Cook-off is Friday, December 13 ($20). All proceeds benefit the Italy FFA Chapter.

Italy FFA kicks off Fruit Sales campaign

The Italy FFA has kicked off their annual Fruit Sales campaign just in time for Christmas delivery. Delicious fruit baskets, nuts, meats and more are available and all proceeds benefit the Italy High School’s Agriculture Program.

Brandon Connor and Ty Windham win Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo calf scramble

Image: Ty Windham won a $500 purchase certificate toward a registered beef or dairy heifer for a 4-H or FFA project to exhibit at next year’s Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. The certificate, presented by Ed Bass, FWSSR Chairman of the Board, was sponsored by Monosol LLC of Merrillville, Indiana.

Brandon Connor and Ty Windham, both members of the Italy FFA, were among the winners in the Calf Scramble event during the February 6 performance at the 117th edition of the legendary Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Brandon’s parents are Summer Douglass and Stephen Connor. Brandon’s award was sponsored by Frank Kent Cadillac of Fort Worth. Ty’s parents are Joe and Andi Windham. Ty’s award was sponsored by Monosol LLC of Merrillville, Indiana.
