The Italy Gladiator Alumni Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament, a one-day event, will be played on Saturday, September 16, homecoming weekend, with the first games starting at 10:00 a.m. All teams are vying for a chance to take on the 1997 class in the championship game.

Proceeds from baked goods sales will be donated to the Rana Ramirez fund setup at any 1st State Bank location.

Italy Gladiator Football teams have moved our scrimmage with Academy to Friday at Italy due to the weather we are expecting Saturday.

On January 2nd 2012 Nick and his parents visited the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School located at 125 W Elm-Hillsboro Texas. After a few classes Nick decided he loved Tae Kwon Do. Nick worked extremely hard and after many grading and tournaments he tested for First Degree Black Belt in 2014 and then tested for 2nd Degree Belt in 2017.

Gold & White Scrimmage this Saturday, August 12, at the New Gladiator Coliseum, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the new turf field!!! Towel admission! (Must have a towel for admittance). Go Gladiators!

The 2017 Italy Gladiator Football kicks off Monday, August 7. We are still in need of donations, including fruits, waters, peanut butter and hot dog buns for our “hydration stations” between our practices!!

2-a-day Gladiator Football practices begin MONDAY, August 7th with a 6:30 a.m. TEAM MEETING! All Football Players entering grades 9th-12th need to arrive NO LATER than 6:15 a.m. on MONDAY – FRIDAY!

The Golden Flush Fundraiser is sponsored by the Italy Gladiator Booster Club which kicks off Monday, July 24, and runs thru Saturday, August 4. The fundraiser will feature three “Golden Potties” which will rotate around Italy and Forreston in order to raise money for Gladiator Athletics. Flush Away your plumbing problem for $15, Flush a Friend for $20 or purchase Toilet Insurance for $25.

Dr. Jon will be in the Dome Thursday, July 20th, from 12:30-3pm providing $25 PHYSICALS! In order to participate EVERY YEAR, athletes must have a PHYSICAL on file in the Athletic Office! Your attention to this matter is very important! Please be there July 20th if you have not already taken care of your PHYSICAL this year!

Silver Spurs 4-H Club wrapped up a highly successful 4-H year with numerous blue ribbons and first time achievements at the District 8 4-H Horse Show at Bell County Expo in Belton, Texas, June 19-20. Sadie Hinz, a soon to be 8th grader at Italy Junior High, led the team winning a buckle as High Point Intermediate Judged Horseman with 1st places in Western Riding and Western Horsemanship, as well as 2nd place in Showmanship, and 3rd in Trail.

On behalf of the Italy Lady Gladiators Basketball Program, WNBA player Andrea Riley will be conducting her 1st Annual Working2Win Girls Basketball Clinic at Stafford Elementary on Monday, June 26, and on Tuesday, June 27. Register Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. prior to the first workout session.

It is official, IYAA Football and Cheerleading (Facebook) has launched a new website on IYAA (League Lineup) ! Parents can now conveniently register their child for football or cheerleading and pay online as well. 1st in-person Signup will be Saturday, June 3rd, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Pavilion in downtown Italy.

The Italy High School Spring Athletic Banquet was successful in a large part to the people that helped this year. The Italy Gladiator Athletic Booster Club would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for helping to make the banquet a big success for our athletes.

Hill College Rebels Volleyball Team will be hosting volleyball positional clinics for middle and high school student athletes. The high school clinics are for students who will be entering nine through 12 grades in the next school year. The middle school clinic is for students who will be going in to the seventh and eighth grades next year.

Lady Gladiators Relay Track Team has advanced to the State Finals. They will travel to Austin on May 13th. Please come out and support our girls in a car wash on Thursday, May 4th from 3:30 to 5:30 at the Italy First Baptist Church-200 Clark Street, Italy.

On February 25, 2017, students from the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School traveled to Giddings, Texas to compete in a Tae Kwon Do tournament in patterns and sparring.

On March 25th, students from the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School, located at 125 W Elm-Hillsboro, Texas for almost 21 years, traveled to Giddings, Texas to compete in an invitational Unified tournament. Two students from the Turtle Cadet program at the Hillsboro UTKD School competed.

Notice of Italy Gladiator Athletic Booster Club’s next regular meeting on Monday, March 27 at 6:00 p.m. inside the High School Library. All parents are welcome to attend.

Keith Davis II joins elite list of Italy Gladiator All-State basketball players as he now resides with his father, Keith Davis (All-State 1997), in the Italy Gladiator Basketball Hall of Fame. Both Davis II and teammate Kevin Johnson earned TABC Class 2A All-Region honors as well.

Another windy afternoon. I took a short flight over the new field, but the wind kept me from big fly overs. I may try again in the morning.

Italy seniors Aarion Copeland and Keith Davis II make a day of it during the 16th Annual Maypearl Texas Roundup All-Star game on Saturday. Copeland scored 25 points to lead all scorers during the girls’ game while Davis totaled 6 points in the boys’ game including a 3-pointer.
