It was a perfect day for fishing with sunny skies and temperatures reaching 80 degrees.
The Italy Gladiators Bass Club invites all ages of anglers who are registered students of Italy ISD to compete in their 1st Annual Land Tournament on Monday, April 16, which is a no school day. The tournament will begin at dawn with first cast at 7am and last cast at 11:30 am. Fishing will be from banks only (no boats) on any body of water they choose.

The Lady Gladiator softball team traveled to Frost on Friday to continue their district play against the Lady Polar Bears. Their 12-1 win gave Italy a 5-0 district record and a record of 12-1-1 overall.
Italy Gladiators JV Baseball vs Abbott on Friday, March 23rd has been cancelled.
Italy Gladiator Varsity Baseball vs Abbott is still on for Friday March 23rd, but the time has changed to 4:30 in Abbott.

Two 6A schools, Killeen Ellison Eagles and the Allen Eagles, will battle in the Italy High School Dome-nasium for the right to advance to the regional tournament.

2018 Super Centex FCA Victory Bowl player selections have been announced with Italy’s Clay Riddle (Football) and Brycelen Richards (Softball) being chosen to compete this summer in June. Three players from Milford, Markavion Thompson (Football), Lowisley Ojeda (Football), and Marquisha Houston (Volleyball), will be participating as well. To be listed as a donator in the program, contact those responsible for receiving the donations by Tuesday, February 20. Monies will not be collected until March (Non-listed donations can still be accepted between now and March).

Italy HS Varsity Baseball is taking part in the Rio Vista Tournament February 22-24 in Cleburne. Attached is the tournament bracket as well as a flyer for the venue — the state of the art MLB park in Cleburne.
The Italy Athletic Booster Club will have a meeting on Monday, February 12, 2018 in the Italy High School Library (300 S. College Street, Italy). Meeting time is slated for 7pm.
Italy Gladiator senior Clay Riddle earns All-State honors as a member of the 2017-2018 67th annual Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 2A All-State Football Team. Also named All-Smoaky.com 2nd Team All-Central Texas Defensive End and selected to play in 10th Annual FCA Super Centex Victory Bowl.
Our Lady Gladiators will be taking on the Grapeland Sandiettes on Tuesday, February 13th in Fairfield at 6pm. We will be the visiting team. Admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for Students. District Passes and Senior Citizens Passes will be accepted. Please come out and support our Lady Gladiators.

Please come and check out our girls play Hubbard in a warm up game on Friday, February 8th in Italy at 8pm. Then, on Tuesday, February 13, the Round 1 Playoff game for the Lady Gladiators will be against Grapeland at the Fairfield High School.
We have been notified by school personnel that the Lady Gladiator Softball Hamburger Dinner along with scheduled Basketball games against Frost originally slated for Tuesday, January 23th have been moved back one day. These events will now be held on Wednesday, January 24th.
The Italy HS Basketball games scheduled tonight in LaPoynor have been moved to Thursday in LaPoynor beginning with our JV Boys at 5pm, This will be followed by our Varsity Girls at 6:30, and our Varsity Boys at 8pm.
On Tuesday, January 23rd Wednesday, January 24th, while the Gladiators and Lady Gladiators take on the Frost Polar Bears on the hardwood inside the Gladiator Dome, the Lady Gladiator Softball players, parents and supporters will be serving up burgers with all the fixings in the Italy High School Cafeteria.

2017 Italy Gladiators well represented among 2A-1 Region II District 8 All-District Football List. On Saturday, Nov., 4th students from the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School located at 125 W Elm-Hillsboro traveled to Giddings, Texas to compete in an invitational Tae Kwon Do Tournament. Two students who live in Italy returned home with double 1st place trophies — Nick Sam and Michael Bryant.

When Emmy Cunningham started Kindergarten at Stafford Elementary, she already knew she loved playing basketball. She began playing at the age of 4 and loved it immediately. That love of basketball is still very evident today to her family, coaches, teammates and supporters.

The mighty Italy Gladiators will challenge the De Leon Bearcats in the UIL Class 2A D1 Bi-District playoff round this Thursday, November 16 in Granbury. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 dollars for children. THSCA and District passes accepted. Go Gladiators!

Last week, Italy Special Olympics students from both campuses participated in their annual bowling competition in Garland at AMF Lanes.
After a disappointing loss at the Bi-District competition in Sachse against Tom Bean last week, the Lady Gladiator volleyball players received great compliments at the 2017 District 12-2A All-District Meeting on November 1st. The Lady Gladiators walked away with the most honors! Your Lady Gladiators were Runners Up in the District, but earned the first seed going into the 2A playoffs.
Senior T’Keyah Pace is on her way to #back2back state trips to Round Rock, Texas for Cross Country. T’Keyah advanced from 3rd in District to 5th at Regionals and has been training to bring a medal back home to Italy, Texas. They don’t call us the Biggest little town in Texas for nothing!!!!
