This past Saturday, T’keyah Pace competed in the UIL Region III 2A Cross Country meet at Sam Houston State University. At the meet, she qualified and advance to the STATE MEET!! She will run on November 12th.
IYAA Teams need your support. On Saturday, November 5th there will be a large garage sale, wiffle ball tournament and washer tournament all at Upchurch Ball Fields to help raise needed funds for the C – Team Football and B – Team Cheer to go to AT&T Stadium on Dec 11, 2016.

Hunter Hinz, freshman at Italy High School, was named the Texas State Champion at the National Rifle Association’s Youth Hunter Education Challenge. This event could be called the decathlon for outdoorsmen as it includes proficiency in archery, shotgun, muzzle loading, rifle, wildlife identification, hunting safety trail, orienteering and a hunter’s responsibility exam.
The Italy City Council met in regular session on Monday night. Mayor Steven Farmer read a proclamation naming Amber Cunningham as the IYAA Volunteer of the Year. After he read the proclamation, cake and punch was served during a reception.
On September 13, 2013 Rocklin along with his dad and mom came to visit the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School located at 125 W Elm-Hillsboro. After participating in a few free classes Rocklin decided martial arts was for him.
The Italy High School 2016 Juniors vs. Seniors Powder Puff football game was another classic with the Senior Girls, head coached by Joe Celis, standing victorious in the end. On a night where the roles are reversed, with the boys performing as cheerleaders and the girls tossing the football around, it was a fun event for everyone involved.
The Gladiator Athletic Booster Club meeting, originally scheduled for Tuesday, has been CANCELLED due to a scheduling conflict with the Italian Festival committee. The next booster club meeting will be Monday, October 17, at 6:00 p.m. inside the Italy High School Library to discuss the Italian Festival and Fall Banquet.

Lumpkins Stadium on Saturday, September 24. Kickoff set for 6:00 p.m. Also, the Gladiator 1st-2nd Grade flag football team will compete in an exhibition contest at halftime featuring local talent and coaches.

After opening their 2016 campaign with wins over Valley Mills, 23-2, and Mildred, 41-21, the Italy Gladiators, fueled by 2 defensive touchdowns, shutout Blooming Grove 42-0 to improve their non-district record to 3-0. Go Italy!

A talented and young Milford Bulldogs Football squad starts their 2016 season 1-1 after challenging a pair of state-ranked opponents right out of the gate. Milford head coach Ronny Crumpton has the ’Dogs digging in for another exciting run for the playoffs.

On May 14th, some students from the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School located at 125 W Elm Hillsboro, Texas competed in an invitational tournament in Austin, Texas. Among the students who competed were Juan Salas and two of his daughters from Frost, Texas. Juan returned home with two first place trophies, one in patterns and one in sparring. Analy and Joana returned home with trophies as well.

The future is bright for the Italy Lady Gladiators. Although the high school group is fielding the lowest number of select players they have fielded in the 21st century, six of their younger minions have taken up their bats, gloves, and gear to play select on a variety of teams in North Texas.

Italy High School senior Lady Gladiator Halee Turner commits with Cedar Valley College in Lancaster, Texas. After trying out for the Lady Suns volleyball team, Halee was offered the position of middle blocker.
Italy High School senior pitcher Ty Windham commits to Cisco College as he realizes a long sought after dream. Windham has been in the pitching rotation for the past three seasons as a varsity member of the Italy Gladiators baseball team.

Italy topples Itasca 14-3 to wrap up their 2016 district campaign while honoring 8 seniors during Senior Night at Loyd Davidson Field. Caps off to 2016 seniors Levi McBride, Micah Escamilla, Jorge Galvan, Ryan Connor, Hunter Merimon, Clayton Miller, Austin Crawford and Ty Windham for their dedication throughout their careers at Italy High School!

The Italy Lady Gladiators defeated the Riesel Lady Indians rather matter-of-factly on Thursday with a 13-1 game 1 win in the bi-district round of the 2016 Softball 2A Region 2 Playoffs hosted in Italy. Riesel responded two days later to win games 2 and 3, claiming the bi-district championship for the Lady Indians.
