The IJH boys basketball season certainly is in full swing right now. The 7th grade still are at the top of their game as they play undefeated. They finished their battle against the Wildcats on Thursday night with another win under their belt.
Final IYAA Basketball signups and an open shoot-a-round for players will be Saturday, January 7, from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 noon inside the old Italy gym.

The varsity Gladiator boys begin district tonight against Whitney at home in the dome. This will be the third district game for both the JV & varsity Lady Gladiators. Italy JV Boys will play in the old gym starting at 5:00 p.m.

The Lady Gladiators traveled to Axtell last Friday night for game two of their district schedule. Losing by a mere three points, the Lady Gladiators put up a relentless battle against the Lady Longhorns of Axtell.
Lady Gladiator basketball senior, Kaitlyn Rossa, will be trading in her gladiator helmet for a pirate’s hat next fall now that she has verbally committed to Southwestern University located in Georgetown.
The Lady Gladiators will travel to Meridian, Texas on December 27 and 28 to complete in the annual Holiday Classic basketball tournament there. Game one for the Lady Gladiators will be Tuesday, December 27 at 10:30am where the Ladies will take on the Huckabay Lady Indians.

Italy’s varsity girl’s head coach, Randy Parks, watched his team like a hawk last Friday night. The chance between winning and losing was slim and the Lady Gladiators worked hard to achieve the win. The Lady Rattlers pulled out their snake oil and took Italy by surprise.

Saturday, December 10 the Lady Gladiator JV basketball team traveled to Itasca to participate in the Itasca Invitational JV Basketball Tournament. With Italy, Itasca, and Maypearl battling out in the round-robin style tournament, Italy came away with the bragging rights.
Italy High School’s varsity and JV boys basketball teams will travel the end of this week to tournaments in Burleson (Centennial High School) and Lancaster (Red Oak Life) and our JV Lady Gladiators will travel to Itasca for their annual basketball tournament.
The Italy Junior High girls basketball 7th and 8th grade played Whitney on Monday night at home as part of their season. The Lady Wildcats worked hard and beat the Lady Gladiators in both games.
The Lady Gladiator varsity basketball team took a two hour trek south to take on the Bremond Lady Tigers. The final score was 61 to 52 with the Lady Gladiators taking the win.
The annual Italy Invitational Basketball Tournament is scheduled to start on Thursday, December 1 and will run thru Saturday, December 3. There will be both boys and girls divisions. Italy 7th and 8th grade boys played Monday night in the dome against Clifton to begin their 2011-2012 season. The boys pulled out the big guns and took on the Cubs and stopped them in their tracks. It may be the beginning of the season but the other teams need to watch out. Here come the Gladiators!
The Lady Gladiators played their game two in the Hamilton Sonic Basketball Tournament on Thursday at 7:30pm. After loosing this game to Waco Connally the Lady Gladiators find themselves in the Silver Bracket. Play continues for Italy on Saturday, November 19 at noon. At that time, Italy will take on Newcastle.
The Lady Gladiators took on Chilton in their first game of the Hamilton Sonic Tournament. The final score was 49-47 with Italy on top. The Ladies will play again at 7:30pm tonight in Hamilton, Texas.
The Lady Gladiator varsity squad will travel to Hamilton, Texas on Thursday and Saturday of this week for the annual Hamilton Sonic Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament. The Lady G’s will take on Chilton at noon on Thursday, August 17. Their second game will be Thursday evening.

Stephenville — The Italy Gladiators (27-8) returned to the regional final game for the third straight season on Saturday. This time around, Italy matched up against the top-ranked Melissa Cardinals (36-1) who suffered their only loss against 4A Woodrow Wilson.

The Italy Gladiators (27-7) knockoff the three-time reigning Region II-AA State Champions, the Ponder Lions (20-16), by a score of 74-67 inside Wisdom Gymnasium on the Tarleton State University campus in Stephenville. With the win, the Gladiators claim the Regional Semifinal Championship and will compete in the Regional Final game against Melissa starting at 2:00 p.m. today.
The Italy Gladiators enjoy a farewell send-off from Italy High School’s faculty and students, as well as, IHS alumni and fans as they board the playoff bus for Stephenville.
Both the Italy Gladiators (25-7) and the Hearne Eagles put on a dazzling display of athleticism, aerial acrobatics and precision shooting with a Region II-AA Regional Quarterfinal Championship on the line. In the end, a 34-point third-quarter explosion by the Gladiators blew the feathers off the high-flying Eagles and allowed Italy to coast home from Waco.
The student body of Italy High School/Junior High School invites the community to join them as they send off their Gladiator Basketball Team as they continue their playoff run in Stephenville. At approximately 9:15am the students and faculty will assemble in the High School campus’ parking lot to wish our Gladiators luck. The bus for Stephenville is leaving at 9:30am sharp per head coach Aiden Callahan.
The Italy Gladiators keep the dream alive with a playoff win over the Mildred Eagles Friday in Midlothian. The Gladiators win 64-37 to claim the Region 2-AA Area Championship and await the winner from the Sunnyvale matchup with Hearne.

After clenching the District 15 2A Championship with a 54-44 win over Axtell. The Italy Gladiators basketball team had 2010-2011 Playoff Shirts printed and are currently available for purchase. The cost of the shirts are $10.00 each.
