The Stafford PTO will be selling spirit ribbons for this weeks game against the Crossroads Bobcats. Ribbons will be sold for $.75. IYAA football and cheerleading splits wins with Mildred

Every year the IYAA says goodbye to its veterans and welcomes in a new group of young Gladiators, but one thing has always remained the same, team spirit never fades and this year’s football players and cheerleaders certainly carried the torch against Mildred on Saturday.

Bobby Campbell teaches life lessons to his students

Bobby Campbell is enjoying his first year on staff at Italy High School. In addition to teaching technology, health and leadership, he is also an assistant football coach, head power lifting coach and head track coach. Prior to coming to Italy, he was a teacher/coach for five years in Itasca, two years in Fairfield, eight years in McGregor and eight years in Temple.

Italy’s JH/JV Gladiators leave it all out on Willis Field against Sunnyvale

Italy — The Gladiator 7th grade squad appeared to be on their way to a shutout victory after two touchdown runs by workhorse Jonathan Salas, and a 2-point conversion catch by Chasston Wilson seemed to all but end Sunnyvale’s chances. Italy lead 14-0 with just 2:59 left in the opening game of a triple-header Thursday night at Italy’s historic Willis Field.

Waxahachie — Italy’s AD/HFC Charles Tindol, his staff, the players, the band and flag corp, the cheerleaders, the water boys, the film crew, the Stat Squad girls and the rest of Gladiator Nation settled in this past Friday night inside Waxahachie’s Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium to enjoy the sights and sounds of the 2nd Annual Dale Hansen Football Classic.

Scholarship applications for Dale Hansen Football Classic are due by August 21

Image: The 2nd Annual 2013 Dale Hansen Football Classic will be played on Friday, September 6, at Stuart B. Lumpkins Stadium in Waxahachie with the Italy Gladiators taking on the Malakoff Tigers starting at 7:30 p.m. to kickoff the event. Once again, the Classic is offering scholarship to a senior boy and senior girl from each of the six high schools represented in the games and this year’s applications need to be postmarked by August 21st!!!

The Dale Hansen Football Classic academic scholarship was established in 2012 to aid high school students wishing to pursue secondary education at the collegiate level. The classic is pleased to offer academic scholarships, ranging from $500.00 to $1000.00, to one boy and one girl in the senior class from each of the six high schools represented in the 2013 games. Applications are available in the office of the lead counselor at each of the six high schools – Italy Malakoff, Florence, Thrall, Alvarado, and Mexia.
