The Texas FFA is led by a team of 10 high school graduate students that have shown premiere leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
Howdy! If you’ve ever had an opportunity to spend time with Italy High school senior Eli Garcia, then you already know he bleeds maroon. He has always aspired to be a Texas Aggie. With his goal in mind, Eli has worked and strived each year to prepare himself for this journey, and it paid off.
The Italy High School 2016 Juniors vs. Seniors Powder Puff football game was another classic with the Senior Girls, head coached by Joe Celis, standing victorious in the end. On a night where the roles are reversed, with the boys performing as cheerleaders and the girls tossing the football around, it was a fun event for everyone involved.
Italy High School students have voted on the 2016-2017 Homecoming Court. They are eagerly awaiting the announcements of the King and Queen at the pep rally and the football game. We hope Gladiator Nation will join in the fun during Homecoming this year!
When Eric Janszen left Midlothian High School to come to Italy last year, he knew it was time for a change. He had taught Agriculture for 15 years there and knew he had done everything he could to do to be successful there.

Christopher Rizzuto has recently been hired as the new Assistant Principal for Italy High School. He was raised in Louisiana where his father was a teacher and a rice and soybean farmer. When he graduated from high school in Louisiana, he had his future all planned out. Even though almost everyone in his family were teachers, coaches or educators, he decided to go a different life route and major in pre-law. He planned to go to law school after he graduated from college, but life circumstances sent him to another state and a different career.
The Dual credit program at Italy High School is a great opportunity for your student to earn high school and college credit at a fraction of the cost, without ever leaving Italy High School. With Navarro as our “Community College” we are here to assist our dual credit students with the transition from high school to College and help our students meet their educational goals.
Sports physicals will take place on Thursday, July 21 from 11:30 a.m. — 3:00 p.m. inside the Gladiator Coliseum dome located on the campus of Italy High School. Cost will be $25 per physical. All incoming 7th Grade thru 12th Grade student-athletes are required to have a completed physical in order to participate on August 1, the beginning of the Volleyball and Football seasons.
For recipients of 2016 Scholarships, specifically Lone Star Cyclists and IHS ACT/SAT Scholarships, the student must present proof of enrollment, a copy of the student ID card, and the full mailing address for the Business/Financial Aid office of the College or University in which the student has enrolled in order to collect your scholarship earnings.

During a meet and greet on Friday, Italy High School and the community welcomed its newest band director, Jonathan VanOmmeren, and his wife, Aimee, while enjoying cake and punch inside the school cafeteria. The event also gave band supporters a chance to say thanks and goodbye to former band director, Jesus Perez, who will start anew at Midlothian Heritage High School.
Italy middle school students’ parents may choose to order supplies this year to avoid the lines and aisles of school supplies in major retail stores. Educational Products Inc. offers these supplies for parents/students at discounted rates. Forms for 6th-8th graders will be sent home today. Order deadline June 17th, 2016.

On March 23rd of this year I asked for the Neo’s help to locate those who had information to identify Valedictorians and Salutatorians from previous years. The response from alumni was overwhelming. I received 82 email with names and dates going back to 1947. I would like to thank those who helped and share a picture of the project we are working on. The project is about 2-3 weeks from being completed.
We are excited to invite you to this year’s induction Sunday, May 22, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. in the HS dome.
It’s not too late to participate. The 5k color run will be this Saturday. Check in starts at 6 a.m.; race time is 8 a.m. You are welcome to walk or run this event. Italy ISD students are eligible for a $15 student rate; others may register online through www.eventbrite.com
It’s that time of year again – time to come out and enjoy the talents and hard work of the Italy HS theater department as they present Elda Cadogan’s one-act comedy, “Rise and Shine.”
Italy High School is hosting a parent information night with the Navarro College Dual Credit Coordinator. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend to get valuable information regarding dual credit as well as an opportunity to get many questions answered. The parent information night will be Thursday, May 26th at 6:30 p.m.

This past Saturday, April 9, 2016, was Italy High School’s annual prom which was hosted by IHS’s junior class.
On Wednesday April 6, 2016, Italy ISD Art Program participated in the Ellis County Youth Expo Creative Arts contest. Thirty-four Italy High School students and nine Italy Middle School students competed. Italy ISD Art Department entered 84 works of art in the contest.
Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the Ellis County Youth Expo, Family Consumer Science students Amber Hooker, Halee Turner, Lillie Perry, Lela Finley and Brooke DeBorde competed in cake decorating. The girls blew the judges away with their talent!
Italy High School Assistant Principal Eric Janszen is currently working on a project to recognize former Italy High School valedictorians and salutatorians. He is looking for information from the following years: 1915-2008.
Teen dating violence is similar to and can be as lethal as adult relationship violence. Approximately one in three girls is a victim of abuse from a dating partner. It includes hitting, yelling, threatening, name calling and other forms of verbal, sexual, emotional and physical abuse. These facts make it very important for parents to be aware of relationship abuse.
This year’s Italy High School prom will be hosted at the Ellis County Event Center in Waxahachie. This beautiful facility will host the 2015-2016 prom on April 9, 2016. Tickets will be for sale from March 1, 2016 until April 1, 2016.

We would like to remind our parents and guardians that this Friday, December 18th, we will release from school early.
The Italy High School junior class will be holding a dodge ball tournament at the high school’s old gym on Friday, December 18 starting at 9:30 a.m. The cost to attend is $2. There will also be a concession stand and all items will be $1. We are inviting the community to come join in on the fun! Please come to support our junior class!

Our first annual Italy Middle School book fair is just around the corner. It will occur the week we return from Thanksgiving break. Many of our students are excited that they are having a book fair at the secondary campus, and we know it will be a great one!
The monies given are earmarked specifically for science department funds. Both campuses will receive $1,000 this school year and $1,000 in the 2016-2017 school year.
This past Monday, November 16, 2015, at the regularly scheduled school board meeting, Mr. Joffre, the secondary campus principal, received a $10,000 check from the Lone Star Cyclist Club.

Congratulations to the students and staff at Italy Junior High and Italy High School. They earned Distinctions in Academic Achievement in Mathematics and Academic Achievement in Social Studies as awarded by The Texas Education Agency.
Saturday evening, October 24th, the IHS Freshman Class will host a junior high Halloween dance. The dance will begin at 6:00pm and end at 9:00pm and will be held in the old gym at the Italy HS/JHS campus.
Italy High School will be hosting our annual Veteran’s Program on November 11 and is asking for your loved ones pictures to be put in our slide show.
