The Beat of Champions is an appropriate statement for our local high school band. On Monday night, 6th grade, 7th & 8th grades and IHS bands made an appearance in the George Scott gymnasium for the annual spring concert. Each group performed and received awards from Director, Jesus Perez, and Assistant Director, Erica Miller, for outstanding work all school year.
With several sport achievements by student-athletes from Italy High School culminating around the same time, the school, in conjunction with the City of Italy, held a small but enthusiastic parade to honor the school’s sports heroes on their recent accomplishments.
My name is Madison Washington, I am currently a sophomore at Italy High School. During this current school year I served as the assistant drum major for the IHS Gladiator Regiment Band. I assisted Drum Major, Emily Stiles, in a phenomenal marching season and just as successful concert season. Last year, when I tried out for drum major, I had no idea what I was getting in to.
The Italy Junior High Varsity Band made it two in a row last week as they earned top scores at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Competition for Middle School last week in Waco.

The Italy High School Gladiator Regiment Band put on an impressive performance Saturday at the Class 2A Area D Marching Contest held in Belton. It was their best performance to date but not good enough for one particular judge who caused their otherwise, good scores, to drop to 12th place out of 24 bands.
As part of the Gladiator Regiment Band’s 1st division rating at last week’s UIL marching contest, the band has advanced to the area marching contest Saturday, October 29 in Belton. This is something that High School bands are only eligible to accomplish every other year. Saturday’s performance schedule is below.

The Italy Gladiator Regiment Band will complete in their regional marching competition at LaVega High School on Wednesday, October 19 at 2:45pm. Both the Italy High School and Stafford Elementary campuses will have a send-off assembly Wednesday morning at 8:30am as the renowned band heads off to compete in this event. The bus will also make its way thru downtown Italy so that local merchants can show their support as well.

Some of the practices are themed with fun events planned as a reward to all the hard work the band members will be putting in.
