Currently there is $8,500 shortage of funds for the trip. This meeting will be used as a brainstorming session on more fundraiser project ideas. It was a night of music at the 2011 Centex Honor Bands Concert with 15 members of the Italy High School and Junior High Bands performing at McGregor High School on January 29.
This past Saturday, January 22nd, 4 members of the Gladiator Regiment band performed with in the Region 8 East Zone All-region band at Groesbeck High School. The band consisted of students from over 20 middle school feeders of 1A, 2A, and 3A high schools.

Local celebrity and Italy High School band director Jesus Perez was surprised early Tuesday morning when IHS Principal Tanya Parker called for an 8:00 a.m. assembly inside Italy Coliseum with Perez being the honored guest.

Eight 8th grade students participated in the all-region middle school band auditions last Friday, December 3rd. The contest included over 20 middle school feeders of 1a, 2a and 3a high schools. All participants were given the same audition pieces (a slow etude, a fast etude, and five scales) and were required to perform sections from their music for a panel of 5 judges.
After countless hours of practices and a dozen Friday night performances, the Italy Gladiator Regiment Band proudly marched into the UIL Regional competition at LaVega High School in Waco on Wednesday afternoon. Once again the band did Italy proud by getting a first division rating.
The Italy Gladiator Regiment Band will travel to Pirate Stadium at LaVega High School in Waco, Texas to compete in the UIL Region 8 Class A/AA marching contest on Wednesday, October 20th.
On Wednesday, September 29, 2010 the Gladiator Regiment Band Boosters will meet at 5:00pm in the Band Hall. With the new rules and regulations for booster clubs in place for the Gladiator Booster organization there will be a detailed report from the treasurer as well as detailed discussions regarding goal setting for the year. The Stafford Elementary Roaring Tigers Band has been established this school year with Italy High School’s Gladiator Regiment Band director Jesus Perez teaching students the fundamentals of music and how to play their instruments.
The award-winning Italy Gladiator Regiment Band and Flag Corp got in one last practice on Thursday before performing live in front of their proud parents and friends on the practice field adjacent to Willis Field. Afterwards, guests were invited to celebrate the hard work band members displayed over the summer by enjoying ice cream social.
An evening of entertainment , ice cream and some business is planned for the parents and supporters of the Italy Gladiator Regiment Band. At 7:00pm the band will perform the short version of their 2010 halftime show. This will be followed by an ice cream social. Once all the fun is over there will be a Gladiator Band Booster Club meeting. All parents and supporters are welcome to attend.

Putting their experience of cleaning finely tuned instruments to use, members of the Italy Gladiator Regiment Band held a fund-raising car wash at the Chicken Express restaurant in Waxahachie on Saturday. Now, half the cars in Ellis County sparkle as bright as the IHS Band does when they march on Friday nights.

Congratulations, once again, to the Italy Gladiator Regiment Band for their continued success in the state Honor Band Competition. On Tuesday, June 22, the Area E hearing was held in San Antonio. The Italy band’s recording was selected as one of three to represent Region 8 and Area E at the state level of Honor Band.
Although school is out, the Italy Gladiator Regiment band is not finished. For the first time ever, the band’s UIL concert recording from early March was submitted to this year’s Texas Music Educator’s Association Honor Band competition. The recording was selected as one of the two that will advance to the area round of competition.
Band uniform measurement will be on June 2nd in the band hall. Students that are not able to come will be responsible for going to the Bandman’s Company on their own to get measured for their uniform.
The Gladiator Regiment Band and the Italy Junior High 7th grade Band both performed during the Spring Concert held inside the Italy Coliseum dome. With Band Director Jesus Perez waving his magic wand, the pride and joy of Italy High School filled every cubic inch of the dome with harmonious sounds.
Everyone is invited to attend the Italy High School Band Booster meeting on Monday, April 26 at 7:00 p.m. inside the Band Hall. The meeting will look ahead to next year and discuss any improvements that need to be made and set goals for the 2010-2011 school year.
Congratulations to the 7th grade band for their superior performance at the 40th Annual Sandy Lake Funfest last Friday, March 26th! Though the band was bested only by Desoto’s McCowan Middle School, who won the best in class award, the Italy 7th graders received unanimous first division ratings from all three judges.

The action at the Uptown Cafe was busy on Saturday night to say the least. The streets were humming with business for the Italy High School Regiment Band. Band boosters of all varieties came together for a good cause.
The IHS Gladiator Regiment Band will have a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, February 6. Titled “Oodles of Noodles”, this event will begin at 5:00pm at Italy’s famous Uptown Cafe.
On Saturday, Jan. 30, twelve students from Italy represented the district at the Central Texas Honor band clinic and concert. Over 600 students from 30 schools competed earlier in the month to earn the right to perform at this prestigious event.
On Saturday, January 16, Italy High School senior and band member, Ronald Helms represented Italy at the ATSSB Region 8 Jazz Band Concert at MCC in Waco. The concert was the culmination of a process that began in September of 2009 that included auditions, rehearsals, and Saturday’s jazz clinic/concert with world renown jazz artist, Bobby Shew (www.bobbyshew.com).

This is an exciting time for the seniors at Italy High School. Along with the athletes and cheerleaders, the IHS Regiment Band members were honored as well, on Friday night.
Competing at Area for the first time in their history, the Italy High School Gladiator Regiment Band and Flag Corp performed their “Batman” themed marching routine in front of the Area judges in hopes of advancing to the finals, and perhaps State.
The Italy High School Gladiator Regiment Band and Flag Corp captured 1st Division, UIL Region 8, in LaVega, Texas on Wednesday. The IHS Band impressed the judges while performing their “Batman” halftime show to advance to Area for the first time in the IHS Band Program’s history.
If you happened to be driving in the area of Italy High School between 6:00 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday night, you would have heard the pounding of drums and the blaring of horn instruments echoing down the streets of the surrounding neighborhood.
The Italy High School Regiment Band is ready. They have been practicing for several weeks and started long before school began. They are ready to march on the field at halftime on Friday night’s game against Maypearl.
