Irma Lee Childers was born in Italy, Texas, on July 24, 1926 to Edna Dazelle (Windham) Harris and William Jack Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Willis Harris, and her husband, Richard Robin Childers, Sr.
October 14, is the third annual “Our Sunflower Friends” event. Our Sunflower Friends is a non-profit 501(c )3 faith based organization that raises money throughout the year and especially during the main event in October for families with children who are battling disease or face hardship due to a life changing accident. This year Our Sunflower Friends is sponsoring two little boys both who are battling cancer.

Its that time again as plans are underway for the 2017 Italy Main Street Market & Community Wide Garage Sale. The date has been set for Saturday, October 7, 2017. The focal point of this event will be an opportunity for community members in and around Italy (including Avalon, Forreston & Milford) to set up mini-garage sale booths in Italy’s downtown Pavilion as well as Italy citizens having garage sales at their home. It will be a great opportunity for everyone to clean out a closet or two as well as finding your next piece for that DIY Pinterest project you have been wanting to do.

The Italy Gladiator Alumni Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament, a one-day event, will be played on Saturday, September 16, homecoming weekend, with the first games starting at 10:00 a.m. All teams are vying for a chance to take on the 1997 class in the championship game.

W.O. Harris, born William Ollan, went peacefully to be with the Lord August 31, 2017, while holding Janette’s hand, the love of his life for nearly 33 years. Nothing brought W.O. more joy than his family who surrounded him with so much love. He was a true testament to being a faithful servant of the Lord praying daily for his family and illustrating how a husband, father and Christian should live their life.

Aug 18, the last Friday before school started, the Italy Ministerial Alliance churches provided lunch for the entire Italy ISD staff: administrators, teachers, groundskeepers and custodians, as a thank you for investing in our children and to do something a little different for the teachers and staff after the long week of preparation for the new school year.
