Just wanted to give the community a heads up about my dome neighbor, Rickey Freeland (pic attached). In the 3 months since he moved to Italy, Rickey has logged over 30 hours cleaning and maintaining Upchurch Field (after games), and he has logged over 50 hours cleaning up the “Secret Garden” dome community behind the laundromat. He has done this simply out of the kindness of his heart, asking for no recognition or compensation.

Italy Junior High Band Wraps Up Year With a Flurry of Activity

While many extracurricular organizations are accustomed to winding down towards the end of the school year, that clearly wasn’t the case with the Italy Gladiator Band, particularly the junior high band members. Here are the activities that the 6th, 7th and 8th grade band members participated in during the last 3 weeks of the school year:

The Italy High School Spring Athletic Banquet was successful in a large part to the people that helped this year. The Italy Gladiator Athletic Booster Club would like to thank the following businesses and individuals for helping to make the banquet a big success for our athletes.

Volleyball positional clinics offered at Hill College this summer

Hill College Rebels Volleyball Team will be hosting volleyball positional clinics for middle and high school student athletes. The high school clinics are for students who will be entering nine through 12 grades in the next school year. The middle school clinic is for students who will be going in to the seventh and eighth grades next year.

Our first experience with the North Texas Food Bank mobile produce truck was a resounding success, and the volunteers were incredibly generous with their time and energy. Loving attitudes and helping hands were everywhere and everyone who wanted fresh produce went home with a full bag of apples, limes, potatoes, green beans, broccoli and zucchini. Over 100 local families were served on the Wednesday produce giveaway!

AIM FOR SUCCESS, Inc. coming to Italy ISD

Aim for Success, Inc., will present their nationally acclaimed program to the students and parents of Italy ISD. The Aim For Success motivational programs have educated over two million teens, parents and educators across America during the past 18 years on topics such as abstinence education, drug prevention and anti-bullying.

National Day of Prayer in Italy

The National Day of Prayer for 2017 is May 4th. It is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation.

Obituary: Thelma F. Moore, 1921 — 2017

Thelma F. Moore, 95, of Waco, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at St. Catherine’s Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 26, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Chaplain Merry Wilburn officiating. A committal service will follow at 2 pm at Italy Cemetery with Pat Malone officiating.
