On January 2nd 2012 Nick and his parents visited the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School located at 125 W Elm-Hillsboro Texas. After a few classes Nick decided he loved Tae Kwon Do. Nick worked extremely hard and after many grading and tournaments he tested for First Degree Black Belt in 2014 and then tested for 2nd Degree Belt in 2017.

As many of you are aware, the Texas State Legislature is currently in a Special Session. With less than one week to go The House has passed House Bill 21. This bill has potential to increase state funding by $210 per student. This would provide Italy ISD with approximately $124,000.00 of additional revenue to educate our students.

Martha Clarice Irvin, known by all of her family and friends as “Clarice”; from Italy, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 at her residence. Clarice was born October 24, 1941 in Haralson County, Georgia to the late Otis Sterling King and Nolly Mildred Price King.
The 2017 Italy Gladiator Football kicks off Monday, August 7. We are still in need of donations, including fruits, waters, peanut butter and hot dog buns for our “hydration stations” between our practices!!
The Italy Police Department invites you to help stuff the bus. Please help us in assisting local children in need. You may drop off your new school supplies and backpacks in the school bus box at City Hall located at 161 W. Main Street. The donation box will be available August 1st through August 31st.
Italy, Texas (Summer 2017) – Italy Independent School District announced the implementation of energy conservation measures for its campuses including state-of-the-art LED lighting. Government Capital Corporation was chosen as the financing partner for the $305,000 project.
Due to ongoing construction at the new football field the High School and Junior High will be changing the date and location of Meet The Teacher.

Italy ISD has partnered with Ticket Roar, an online ticket sales group, for all of our future, contests, and events to make the Reserved/Season tickets purchasing experience more convenient for our Gladiator supporters!
The Milford Police Department has partnered with IMPACT Communities, and the United Way of West Ellis County to provide the citizens of Milford with a Prescription Drug Disposal Program. Citizens are encouraged to dispose of any expired or unused prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Hey, I just wanted to apologize for causing y’all a huge problem with the rat nesting. I had no idea or even crossed my mind that I was contributing to the delinquency of rats. So as soon as I was made aware by Chief Taylor I stopped and tried to clean up food on the ground and donate rat traps.

The Art on the Square gallery owned by the Ellis County Art Association located at 113 Franklin St. Waxahachie is hosting an exhibit of artwork created by Shelley Nance, 2007 graduate of Italy High School, who passed away in 2009.

Silver Spurs 4-H Club wrapped up a highly successful 4-H year with numerous blue ribbons and first time achievements at the District 8 4-H Horse Show at Bell County Expo in Belton, Texas, June 19-20. Sadie Hinz, a soon to be 8th grader at Italy Junior High, led the team winning a buckle as High Point Intermediate Judged Horseman with 1st places in Western Riding and Western Horsemanship, as well as 2nd place in Showmanship, and 3rd in Trail.

The new City Administration held its first work session on Monday night. Because it was an informal work session, no votes were taken and citizens were allowed to speak during the session.
The City of Italy is sad to report that council member Paul Cockerham has resigned and will be moving. We would like to thank him for his time and dedication he has given to the City.
I have so much to be thankful for these days. I think it has always been that way, but I never slowed down enough to notice. Now, as I get older, that has changed. I have tried to slow down.

The Italy Gladiator Band Booster Club is hosting the annual spaghetti dinner to kick of the Tour D’Italia this weekend. Everyone, not just cyclists, are invited to come and eat at the High School Cafeteria. Dinner starts at 5:30pm this Friday, June 16th—$6 per plate. Bring the whole family!
The Italy City Council met for their regular June meeting on Monday night. Among the agenda items was to elect a Mayor Pro Tem. In a unanimous vote, Franky Jackson was elected as the new Mayor Pro Tem.
Italy Food Pantry will be open on Monday, June 19, 5-7 pm. It is always open the THIRD MONDAY of each month,including holidays.
