Shop With a Hero is a local organization that raises money so that Italy ISD students that are chosen by their teachers can go shopping for Christmas gifts for themselves and their family members. Each student may spend up to $300 each at WalMart.

Italy Superintendent Update: December 19, 2016

The Italy ISD School Board approved a resolution outlining their top legislative priorities entering the 2017 Texas Legislative Session. The passing of this measure is the latest in a collective effort by the superintendents and school boards of Region 10 to communicate the top areas of interest that stand to impact the students they collectively serve.

Obituary: Margaret Horton, 1918 — 2016

Margaret Horton, age 98, of Milford, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 in Waxahachie. She was born March 5, 1918 in Milford, Texas to William Patrick and Clara Elizabeth (Hall) Moore. She was baptized when she was 12 years old and was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Milford. She was a talented seamstress and had worked at many of the clothing manufacturing establishments in the area. She was a devout Christian woman, a wonderful mother and friend.

Gladiator Football 2016 All-District List

Several Italy Gladiators receive All-District recognition among 2016 2A-1 Region II District 8 voting with junior Clay Riddle earning 1st Team both ways. Seniors Kevin Johnson and David De La Hoya also earned 1st Team honors on offense after the Gladiators made playoffs for a second consecutive season.

Italy PD presents Angel Tree gifts – join them!

On Wednesday, December 14th, 2016 @ 10:30am, the Italy Police Department in partnership with McDonald’s will be presenting Angel Tree gifts to the residents at the Trinity Mission Rehab Center / Nursing Home at 220 Davenport St. Italy, TX 76651. We would love for all to attend.

Italy Gladiator Band Boosters Spaghetti Dinner – Thursday, December 15th

On Thursday, December 15, the Italy Gladiator Band Booster Club will be hosting a spaghetti dinner from 5:00-7:00 pm in the high school cafeteria. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for kids and include spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert, and a drink. In addition to the dinner, they will be hosting both a silent and a live auction.

Italian Christmas Festival Postponed

We have rescheduled the Festival & Parade due to the impending weather tomorrow. The new date is next Saturday, December 10th. Attached is the public notice that will be announced by KBEC with all the information.

Spaghetti Dinner and Christmas Concert — Thursday, December 15th

On Thursday, December 15, the Italy Band Department will perform their 2016 Christmas Concert. The concert will begin at 7:30 pm in the Dome at the high school and will feature all band students from grades 6-12 performing holiday favorites. The Italy Gladiator Band Booster Club will also be serving a Spaghetti Dinner and hosting an auction prior to the concert to help raise funds for the band.

Italy Middle School Book Fair happening now

Italy Middle School’s 2nd annual book fair kicks off today. Students are welcome to shop between the hours of 7:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. each day through Thursday. The fair will open at at the same time on Friday, December 2, 2016, but will pack up on Friday at noon.

2016 Volleyball All-District; IHS: Lusk Co-Offensive MVP, Richards Defensive MVP

Italy’s Lady Gladiators were well represented among the 2016 Region 2 ~ District 12-2A All-District Volleyball Award honorees. Senior April Lusk was named Co-Offensive MVP and junior teammate Brycelen Richards was named Defensive MVP. Outstanding Blocker went to junior Annie Perry and Outstanding Libero went to sophomore Karley Nelson.

Italy Food Pantry receives large donation from Brookshire Brothers

The Italy Food Pantry was delighted to receive 750 lbs of canned vegetables and soup from Brookshire Bros last month. Mike Nicholson, Store Manager, was very pleased that corporate shared its resources with our community, and hopes it will continue. Susan Wooten, Food Pantry Director thanked Brookshire Bros. for its generosity, and noted that holiday supplies are appreciated now more than ever.
