HILLSBORO, TEXAS—Hill College is pleased to announce the launch of Career College, a summer enrichment camp for students entering 7th through 9th grades. Career College will be held at the Hillsboro campus Monday, June 26, through Thursday, June 29, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. The cost is $149 per student and will include a T-shirt and lunch each day.

The Italy City Council will have a called meeting on Thursday, April 20th in the Italy Boze Community Center at 161 W. Main Street, Italy. Meeting time is slated for 6:30.

Italy ISD will have Early Childhood, Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten Roundup to enroll children who will be eligible for classes for the 2017-2018 school year. This year’s round up will be April 19, 2017 from 12:00pm until 7:00 pm.

My name is Cortney Owen Janek and I have lived in Italy my entire life. I am seeking to continue my seat on the school board hoping to be a voice for all of the students.

On April 18, 2015 my heart broke and a part of me died. It was a day I will never forget nor do I want to. It was a day of intense pain, but it was a day of extreme joy and relief.

Arval David Gowin was born in Shamrock, Texas in 1960 and went to be with the Lord Friday, April 14, 2017 at his home.

Zina Guthrie has supported the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life for several years with donations. She is employed by First State Bank of Rice in Italy, so when the bank decided to create a team for the Ennis Relay, she did not hesitate to join.

While serving the past three years, the board has made significant strides to improve the educational environment of our students. I want to maintain that momentum and see the improvements through.

On February 25, 2017, students from the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School traveled to Giddings, Texas to compete in a Tae Kwon Do tournament in patterns and sparring.

On March 25th, students from the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School, located at 125 W Elm-Hillsboro, Texas for almost 21 years, traveled to Giddings, Texas to compete in an invitational Unified tournament. Two students from the Turtle Cadet program at the Hillsboro UTKD School competed.

I have been a stay at home mom for 16 years now. I graduated in 1999 from Italy High School. I am currently on the Board of Trustees for Italy ISD.

Lee E. Hamilton, age 53, of Italy, passed away early Monday morning, March 27, 2017 at his home.

Keith Davis II joins elite list of Italy Gladiator All-State basketball players as he now resides with his father, Keith Davis (All-State 1997), in the Italy Gladiator Basketball Hall of Fame. Both Davis II and teammate Kevin Johnson earned TABC Class 2A All-Region honors as well.

The Italy High School theater department will present George Kelly’s comedic drama, “Finders Keepers” this Friday, March 24 at 2:45pm in the high school gymnasium. The play tells the story of a woman who finds a purse with a large sum of cash in it and the ensuing moral quandary.

Claudia Abundiz Jimenez, a sophomore at Italy High School, spent much of her time over spring break at The Warehouse Dallas. The Warehouse houses a contemporary art collection spanning from post World War II to present day and hosts student workshops for those students interested in pursuing some type of career in art.

Darlyene Wright Daniel Billings, 70, of Fairfield passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017. She was born December 28, 1946 in Italy, Texas to Wilbur Wright and Johnnie Lois Chambers Wright. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Italy seniors Aarion Copeland and Keith Davis II make a day of it during the 16th Annual Maypearl Texas Roundup All-Star game on Saturday. Copeland scored 25 points to lead all scorers during the girls’ game while Davis totaled 6 points in the boys’ game including a 3-pointer.

Keith Davis II will be representing Italy Gladiator Basketball tomorrow, Saturday, March 18, 2017 during the 16th Annual Maypearl Texas Roundup All-Star game for senior boys and girls. Tip off @ 4:30 p.m.
