Congratulations to the band for making school history on Saturday. After receiving straight 1st division ratings at the UIL Region Marching contest on Wednesday, the band advanced to the UIL Area Marching contest on Saturday. Competing directly against 16 bands in prelims, the band finished in 5th place, the highest prelims finish in school history.
The Italy Community Activities Committee will have a meeting on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in the Italy Boze Community Center (161 W. Main Street, Italy). Meeting time is slated for 6pm.
We would like to announce our state qualifier from Milford High School, Mr. Joey Orndorff. Joey ran in the Region 4 Cross Country competition on Monday, October 23, 2017, in Corpus Christi. He placed 7th out of 143 runners with a total time of 18:27.

Harold Lee Ward, son of Jim and Edna Ward, born January 11, 1931 in Italy, Texas. He experienced Permanent Change of Station from this life into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on October 20, 2017. (2 Cor. 5:8)
As you drive on Harris Street you will see that the outside portion of the construction at Stafford Elementary is nearing an end.
On Saturday, October 14, the Italy High School Band competed in the Lake Whitney Invitational Marching Contest at Whitney High School. The contest featured bands from 19 different schools from Class 1A, 2A, and 3A in size. At the end of the preliminary round, Italy High School received caption awards for Best Colorguard, 2nd Place in Class, and 1st Division Overall. The band advanced to the finals round, and after their performance finished in 5th place.
T’Keyah Pace and Shaniaya Johnson, representing Italy High School in the Regional Cross Country track meet, will run on Monday, October 23rd in Huntsville.
Jennifer Staggs and her family moved to Forreston seven years ago. She is originally from Marietta, Georgia, and after her family moved to Rockett, Texas, she attended Red Oak schools. She graduated in 1999.

Dorothy (Wallace) Lowden, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 15, 2017 surrounded by family, due to complications from pneumonia.

Jerry Cockerham, age 79, went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 15, 2017. Jerry was born November 18, 1937 in Italy, Texas, and was preceded in death by his father, William Morgan Cockerham, and his mother, Emily Irene Cockerham.
Denny Joe Littlejohn, age 82, of Italy, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab. He was born March 2, 1935 in Italy, Texas to Edgar and Luella C. (Denny) Littlejohn.

Meet Emily Frost Moore…we call her “our” Emily, because we all want to claim this gentle, precious, and loving young lady that grew up in Maypearl. She graduated from Maypearl High School in 2006. She is 30 years old, married to her husband of four years, and they have just had their first addition to their family: Ander is four months old. Now the hard news: the severe back pain she suffered from during pregnancy has now been diagnosed as Stage 4B Cervical Cancer.

The public is invited to the headquarters of the Monolithic Dome Institute on Saturday, October 14th. Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., many of the domes on the property will be open to tour. Entrance to the open house is free and open to families and all ages.
Waxahachie Community Theatre announces performances of the Broadway classic musical “Annie,” introducing Olivia Leath as Annie and starring Jerry Ellis as Oliver Warbucks. “Annie” is presented in cooperation with Irwin Meyer, Alvin Nederland Associates, Inc. and Lewis Allen Icarus Productions, and is directed by Kasi Jones. Gail Wilsford, age 70, of Italy, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at her home. She was born January 20, 1947 in Waxahachie to Robert and Dolly (Culver) DeFoore.

Two Italy High School students were among some of the first to receive acceptance letters to a post-secondary school.
Aim for Success, Inc., will present their nationally-acclaimed program to the students and parents of Italy High School. The Aim for Success motivational programs have educated over 2.5 million teens, parents, and educators across America since 1993 on topics such as bullying, drugs & alcohol, and sexuality/abstinence.
With just over a week until the community wide event, requests are still coming in. If you are planning on having a garage sale next weekend, October 7, 2017 (no city permit needed) please get signed up so that your location can be included on the map that will be handed out to shoppers.
The Collegiate Achievement Mentoring Program (CAMP) selects Milford ISD to be a part of this prestigious, national network.
The City of Italy has changed garbage collection companies. The new company will be Access disposal. Access will begin collecting the garbage Tuesday October 3rd.
