The Lady Gladiator Youth Softball camp will be held at the IHS softball field today (Tuesday, June 24). All girls from 3rd grade to 9th grade are welcome to attend. Camp runs from 9:00am to 11:00am.

The All-Distict list has been released for the 2014 softball season. Eight Lady Gladiators made it on to this coveted list, but even more impressive are the 9 Lady Gladiators that made it on to the All-Academic list. Congratulations Ladies!
With the season over after a 9-8 bi-district loss to Mart, the Italy Lady Gladiators will go back to drawing the board in hopes of creating a much prettier playoff picture in 2015.
The Lady Gladiators will take on Mart on Thursday, April 24 at 6pm in Corsicana. This will be a one game bi-district playoff matchup with Mart. The winner of this game moves to the area round of the playoffs.
Tuesday was a special day for the Italy Lady Gladiators who were celebrating many happenings before, during and after their district contest against the visiting Avalon Lady Eagles.
Italy — With a big night in Lady Gladiator softball on tap, Italy delivered a 15-0 shutout win over Avalon to help honor coach Johnny Jones who had the Italy softball field named Johnny Jones Field in his honor following the district battle.
Junior power hitter Jaclynn Lewis hit a solo homerun shot that carried over the centerfield fence to help Lady Gladiators win the first game of a double-header 10-0 against the GPAA Lady Eagles on Friday. Italy shutout GPAA in game two, as well, 16-0.
Tuesday, April 15th at 5:30pm the presence of all Lady Gladiator Softball alumni is requested at the Italy HS softball field. In addition to the final home game of the 2014 season, the Lady Gladiators will be celebrating a “Throw Back Night” and have extended a special invitation to all alumni.
Your Lady Gladiators have climbed back into the district race with a rematch win over Frost, avenging their earlier district loss to the Lady Polar Bears in a seven inning stress riser.
A few tweaks here and there allowed the Lady Gladiators to win their district rematch over Itasca with team chemistry at an all new level.
The Lady Gladiators secure their first district win, 20-1 over Avalon, and gain some much needed momentum in time for the remainder of their district push.
The Lady Gladiators suffer their second district loss after an explosive start to the season but don’t count Italy out just yet with Jaclynn Lewis returning to the circle which frees up Madison Washington to play shortstop and Tara Wallis to patrol right field.
Friday night, April 4th, there will be big goings-on at the Italy High School Baseball and Softball fields! Besides our Gladiators and Lady Gladiators taking on rival Itasca on the sacred red sand, our IYAA will be honored during the pre-game introductions. Also, during the night, in a joint effort between the baseball and softball teams, there will be a drive-thru hamburger stand available—YUM!

The Lady Gladiators had a long night against visiting Maypearl but the season is still young and Italy is determined to get back into the win column.
During the three-day Hillsboro Invitational Softball Tournament, the Lady Gladiators won 4-out of-5 games and were the Consolation Winners!
The Lady Gladiators are off to a good start in Hillsboro tournament after winning both warmup games against Lake Worth and Jewitt-Leon on Thursday. Bracket play begins today.
The Lady Gladiators are traveling to Hillsboro today to start a three day tournament at Hillsboro High School. Two warm up games will be held Thursday, with bracket play beginning Friday. Italy’s first bracket game will be Friday, February 28 at 12:45pm.
The Lady Gladiators took a road trip this past weekend to Woodsboro for the Tournament of Champions. Italy finished 2nd in the tournament after defeating Port Aransas, Goliad, Ben Bolt, and the host school, Woodsboro. The only set back of the tournament was a 5-4 loss to Riviera.
Can you imagine how excited the students at Avalon ISD must be? For the first time ever in the history of their school they now have a softball field set up and ready for them to “Play Ball.”
The Lady Gladiators game out on top in a pre-season battle against the 5A Richardson Berkner Lady Rams Tuesday night in Richardson. It was a 0-0 ball game thru the 4th inning with Italy crossing home plate in the top of the 5th. Final score was Italy 1 – Berkner 0.
The Italy Lady Gladiators would like to thank everyone that helped make our hamburger fundraiser a giant success. We especially want to thank the Brinkman Corporation for donating the grill that was raffled off as well as Gerdau Long Steel North America for sponsoring the Burger Dinner.
On Friday, January 17, the Lady Gladiators will be giving away a brand new Brinkman Pro-Series Grill (Model 9424) donated by the Brinkman Corporation. The give-a-way will be the culmination of three weeks of raffle ticket sales by the softball team. There is still time to get your ticket!
On Friday, January 17, while the Gladiators and Lady Gladiators take on the Itasca Wampus Cats on the hardwood inside the Gladiator Dome, the Lady Gladiator Softball players and their parents will be serving up burgers with all the fixings in the Italy High School Cafeteria. Mark your calendars!!!
While Santa is making a list and checking it twice, there are visions of softballs, cleats and line drives dancing around in the heads of the Lady Gladiator softball team. Practices will start in mid-January and the girls are ready to get the season started.
All parents of Lady Gladiator softball players are requested to attend a meeting on Thursday, November 14th at 5:30pm. The meeting will be held in Coach Rowe’s classroom (Rm #113).

Italy High School product and Tennessee Tech commit, Alyssa Richards, continues her winning ways during the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star softball game in Austin.
Lady Gladiators, Alyssa Richards (Sr.) and Jaclynn Lewis (So.) have both been named to the 2013 Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State Softball team for Class 1A with Richards to appear in the TGCA All-Star game on July 12 in Austin.
With several sport achievements by student-athletes from Italy High School culminating around the same time, the school, in conjunction with the City of Italy, held a small but enthusiastic parade to honor the school’s sports heroes on their recent accomplishments.

The Lady Gladiators will play in an Area Championship softball game on Friday, May 3 at Hall Middle School in Weatherford. In a double-header format, game one will begin at 6:00pm and will be followed by game two at 8:00pm. A fan bus will be available.

Italy — The Lady Gladiators defeated Grand Prairie Advantage 22-0 earlier in district play and coasted to a victory in the rematch with Italy winning again, 13-0. A two run double by Tara Wallis, an RBI double by Alyssa Richards who knocked in 3 runs and scored once, a 2 RBI double by Paige Westbrook and an RBI triple by Kelsey Nelson separated Italy who led early and continued building on their lead throughout. Along with the RBI, Nelson crossed home plate 3 times for Italy’s cause.
The Lady Gladiators continue to march over their league challengers, a softball district championship is already in sight.
