There comes a moment in every season for every great team when they must come together to overcome. That is a difficult sentence but not as difficult as Italy’s comeback win over Itasca on Tuesday.

The Lady Gladiators have terrorized the district with a well-balanced offensive and defensive attack to be undefeated at the midway point of district play.

Italy sophomore Jaclynn Lewis pitches a perfect game to help the Lady Gladiators shutout Avalon 15-0 and improve to 4-0 in district play.

The Italy Lady Gladiators come from behind twice and then leave Itasca in a cloud of dust and with a 13-4 district opening win.

The Lady Gladiators improve overall record from 0-3 to 3-5 during two-day tournament in Scurry.

The Lady Gladiators will head to Corsicana High School to play 6 games in three days in CHS’s annual Softball Classic. The Lady Gladiators will take on the 2012 class 2A State Champion Crawford Lady Pirates in their first game on Thursday. Game time is 9:00am. See attached bracket for complete schedule.

The tournament, originally scheduled to start on Thursday, February 21, has been pushed back a day due to the weather. The new schedule is attached.

The Lady Gladiators drop their first two games in 2013 but will be gunning for the win column against Maypearl tonight during their first road games.

The start of the 2013 Lady Gladiator softball season is right around the corner. Orders are being taken now for all Lady Gladiator softball fans to order shirts, hoodies, caps and more. All proceeds will benefit the Lady Gladiator softball team.

The Lady Gladiator Softball program is putting items up for sale on Friday, January 25, in conjunction with their hamburger supper. Beginning at 4:30pm in the IHS cafeteria all of the items will be on display and priced to sell!

Lady Gladiator Softball Head Coach Wayne Rowe has announced plans for a parent meeting on Monday, January 21st. Meeting time is 6:00pm. The meeting will be held in room 113 at the Italy High School campus.

Coach Wayne Rowe, one of the newest members of the Italy High School staff, has been teaching for 15 years and wants to put IHS on his resume. Coming from Scurry Rosser ISD, Rowe teaches English and coaches softball. Eager to begin the school year in Italy, Coach Rowe has plans of preparing the students in and out of the classroom.

Friday, May 4 there will be a Fan Bus departing at 5:00pm from the Italy High School Dome parking lot for the Lady Gladiator Softball playoff game at Mildred High School just east of Corsicana. The invitation to ride via the Fan Bus is open to all students in grades 7th and up. Students will be responsible for admission fee into the game as well as any food purchase.

If you didn’t make the trip to Waco last night to see the Lady Gladiators battle it out with the Troy Trojanettes you missed a great “display.” It was a display of heart and determination by the Lady Gladiators, a display of calm and calculation by the coaches, and lastly display of love and support by the fans! It was a GREAT day to be a Lady Gladiator and a GREAT day to be a Lady Gladiator Fan!!

Italy was unable to collect a win in Grandview but big plays and special moments prove both the Gladiators and Lady Gladiators are charging in the right direction.

The Lady Gladiator Softball team would like to extend an invitation to the community to come and join their efforts to raise money for cancer research. On Tuesday, March 20 Wednesday, March 21 the Lady Gladiators will take on the Maypearl Lady Panthers in a district matchup beginning at 6:00pm 6:30pm. All proceeds from this softball game will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The Italy Lady Gladiators are packing a collective punch and have come out swinging for the fences with the team’s expectations high.

The Lady Gladiator softball team traveled to RioVista on Monday to take on the Lady Eagles in their district opener. Senior pitcher, Megan Richards logged the shutout win and her sister, Alyssa Richards got the scoring started for the team with a one run homerun over the right field fence (into the wind!).

The Lady Gladiator Softball team will take on the Rio Vista Lady Eagles (at Rio Vista) in their district opener on Monday, March 5th at 5:30. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday the 6th of March but due to this week’s TAKS testing the game was moved back a day.

In their home opener this past Tuesday night, the Lady Gladiators dominated the Palmer Lady Bulldogs. They won the contest 9-0 giving senior pitcher, Megan Richards, a shutout for her stat book.

The Lady Gladiator softball team will travel to Forney, Texas on Thursday, Feburary 16th, and Saturday, February 18th, for the Forney-North Forney Invitational Softball Tournament. There will be some great match ups both days so come out and support your Lady Gladiators.

The Lady Gladiators place 9 players on the 2011 15-2A All-District list including Pitcher Of The Year and Catcher Of The Year.

Italy’s Lady Gladiators have managed to position themselves with a chance for the playoffs and currently stand alone in 3rd place within their district. A must win game is today in Italy against Maypearl.

Italy’s JV boys baseball team pencils in another win after a strong performance against Maypearl while the Lady Gladiators start strong but struggle late against the Lady Panthers in Maypearl.

The Italy Lady Gladiators Softball team has had quite a stretch of softball starting with the Grandview Tournament just before Spring Break and wrapping up with a non-district home win against Rice this past Tuesday. All-in-all, the Lady Gladiators played 7 games in 6 days winning 4-of-7.
