Emergency Management Officials are closely watching a pending storm. Italy ISD will notify the community via the Italy Neotribune, social media and text blasts if there is a need for the dome to open. Should there be a need to open the dome we will enforce a “No Pets Allowed” policy for the safety of our community members.

With voting clearly underway for Italy ISD’s 2015 Bond, I was ecstatic when Stafford Elementary’s 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Davee Garcia, contacted me to discuss a writing project that she and her fourth grade students were planning. The fourth graders were beginning their persuasive writing unit and had decided to write about the bond election. Their task was to write a persuasive paper of why someone should vote for or vote against the bond. I was asked to present to the class as the “bond expert.”

The Lady Gladiator varsity basketball squad, who finished 6-0 in district and are advancing to the area round on Friday, were recognized by the school board during their regular monthly meeting on Monday evening. The Lady Gladiators are ranked 15th in TGCA (Texas Girls Coaches Association) and 20th in the TABC (Texas Association of Basketball Coaches).

School Board appreciation was celebrated at the Italy ISD School board meeting Tuesday, January 20, 2015. The Stafford elementary student council and the High School presented gifts to the school board for their hard work and dedication.
Italy ISD will host the Carter Blood Center’s Mobile Blood Drive on Monday, January 26, 2015. The mobile donation center will be set up from 10am to 3pm in the parking lot in front of the Italy High School Dome-nasium.

Senior yearbook ads must have a deposit in to Mrs. Eaglen by January 9th. A 50% deposit is required to hold your page and ALL pages must be completely paid for and the layout must be turned in by April 6th. Remember a full page is $125, half page is $70 and a quarter page is $45.

In a public hearing Monday night, Italy ISD reported that they had received a perfect score on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for 2014. An achievement rating of 70 is the highest possible score a school district can receive. This is the second year in a row Italy has received a perfect score of 70.

The annual George Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund barbecue dinner will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Italy High School Cafeteria. Cost for the meal is $12 per person. The meal will be catered by Bubba’s of Ennis.
