New principal and counselor hired at Stafford Elementary

During the March board meeting, the Italy ISD School Board voted unanimously to hire Mrs. LaKesha Bass as the new principal for Stafford Elementary. Mrs. Bass has been an assistant principal for 6 years in DeSoto ISD. She has also been a math instructional specialist and elementary school teacher. Mrs. Bass will transition into her new role during the first week of May.

Superintendent Student Advisory Council forming at Italy ISD

Italy ISD Superintendent, Mr. Lee Joffre is developing a Superintendent Student Advisory Council for Italy ISD. The purpose of the Council is to provide students an avenue to develop and share ideas for continuous school improvement. The agenda item for the meetings will be driven by the students. All parents of qualifying students are encouraged to discuss this opportunity with their children. The application is attached.

Community Communication from Italy ISD School Rush App

Italy ISD will exclusivly use the School Rush APP to communicate any alerts, messages, or emergencies with the community of Italy ISD. Attached is the document with all the information needed to begin using the School Rush app, and if you currently are using remind 101, the school will no longer use remind 101 to send out community messages or alerts. The Italy Strong tee shirt fundraiser to benefit Noelle Jones and her family was very successful. We would like to thank everyone that purchased an Italy Strong shirt. We would also like to recognize Lil Dab, BHB Feed and McDonalds for their support. Due to your generosity and support we will be able to make a sizeable donation to Noelle and her family for her medical expenses. We wanted “Italy Strong” to be a positive message to our community and aid in our unity and healing.

Pass the Bucket for Noelle!

Tonight, as our Gladiators host the Frost Polar Bears, we will be asking for donations in order to help Noelle Jones with her medical expenses. The Gladiator cheerleaders will be passing buckets around the Dome between the Varsity Girls and the Varsity Boys contests. Any help that you may be able to provide is welcome.

At Italy ISD, I and everyone on my staff are dedicated to maintaining a strong partnership with you in an effort to provide the very best education for our students and your children. Key to that partnership is open communication. For this reason, I want to discuss the tragic incident that occurred at Italy High School on January 22, 2018.

All Italy ISD campus planned activities cancelled

All meetings and activities planned at both Italy ISD campuses are cancelled for this evening (Monday, January 22, 2018). An administrative meeting will be held this afternoon where discussion will be held regarding classes and actives for the remainder of the week. Results of this meeting will be relayed here on the Italy Neotribune.

Italy Superintendent Update: August 9, 2017

As many of you are aware, the Texas State Legislature is currently in a Special Session. With less than one week to go The House has passed House Bill 21. This bill has potential to increase state funding by $210 per student. This would provide Italy ISD with approximately $124,000.00 of additional revenue to educate our students.

Help the Italy Police Department “Stuff the Bus!”

The Italy Police Department invites you to help stuff the bus. Please help us in assisting local children in need. You may drop off your new school supplies and backpacks in the school bus box at City Hall located at 161 W. Main Street. The donation box will be available August 1st through August 31st.
