School personnel are often our unsung heroes. They take more complaints than they do praise most of the time. They work endless hours to assure our children are educated, safe and well fed.

The Italy ISD Board of Trustees will have a special hearing and a called meeting on Monday, August 25th, 2014. The hearing will begin at 6:00pm and the called meeting will begin at 6:30pm. Both the hearing and meeting that follows will be held in the Italy High School cafeteria.

The Italy ISD Board of Trustees approved hiring five staff members at Stafford Elementary and two new staff for Italy High School. Superintendent, Jaime Velasco, stated this completed hiring for the year.

The Italy ISD is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will not be discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided at the sites and times as follows:

On May 19, 2014, a regular meeting or the Board of Trustee of Italy Independent School District convened in the high school cafeteria. After the call to order, one of the business items was to induct the newly elected trustees, Tessa South and Larry Creighton. Also, on the agenda was to say goodbye to Paul Cockerham and Mark Stiles. Each worked hard for the school. Stiles gave 3 years of service and Cockerham was on the board for 6 years.

FCCLA students that represented Italy High School at state and the Gladiator Regiment Band’s accomplishments for the year were recognized by the school board during a relatively short meeting on Monday. New Marty Haight Scholarship announced.

The Board of Trustees of Italy Independent School District welcomed Jamie Velasco to his first board meeting as the new superintendent.

Avalon ISD has been nominated for the 2014 National Blue Ribbon School recognition out of 8,000 schools by the Texas Commissioner of Education, Michael Williams. There were only twenty five campuses in Texas that were nominated and Avalon ISD was one of them! Winners will be announced in Washington in September.

Avalon ISD will hold its pre-kindergarten and kindergarten round-up for children ages 3-5 years old on March 21, 2014.

Jaime Velasco was officially named superintendent of the Italy Independent School District Wednesday evening at a special meeting.

It just seems like every time you turn around something good is happening at Avalon ISD. This time what is happening is really good, about $2,500.00 good. Avalon ISD was awarded the Monsanto Grant.

The Italy ISD special olympic athletes received a heroes sendoff from the entire Italy High School student body and faculty early Wednesday morning as Team Italy prepared for their basketball competition at Cedar Hill High School.

Italy ISD, Milford ISD as well as Avalon ISD administration has announced that each will have a delayed start time on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Classes will begin at 10:00am. Buses will run two hours late from their regular schedules.

Italy ISD has provided copies of the 2012 – 2013 School Report Cards (SRC) for Stafford Elementary School and Italy Junior High and High School. The SRC is a subset of the 2012 – 2013 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) which contains more details and sources of data for the information in the SRC.
