Parade planned to honor Kortnei Johnson, girls state track team and IHS baseball

On Saturday, May 18th, 2013, Italy school and city leaders have planned a downtown Italy parade to honor state record breaking track sprinter, Kortnei Johnson along with state qualifying runners, Halee Turner, Ryisha Copeland and Kendra Copeland. Parade time is 10:00am. Also included in the parade will be a send off for the Gladiator Baseball team as they head out to battle Trenton in game two of a best of three series for the regional quarter-final title. The entire community is welcome to come and hail these outstanding young athletes.

Italy Junior High Track team hurdles the competition

Italy Junior High Boys and Girls track teams gave it their all at the recent Itasca Jr High Track Meet. They ran with passion and had some incredible finishes. Participating schools in the event were Italy, Itasca, Rice, Blum, Dawson and Maypearl. Coached by Jeff and Heather Richters, the Gladiators took the track by storm.

Italy High School tracksters headed to regionals

Italy High School Track Coach Heather Richters has released the schedule of events for the Texas UIL 2A Region 2 Track meet. The meet will be on May 2nd and 3rd in Stephenville, Texas and will be held at the Tarleton State University Track & Field facility. Italy High School has six students that have qualified for the meet.

Italy Track coach releases updated district track meet schedules

Italy High School track coach Heather Richters has released an updated schedule for next week’s district High School track meet. The Junior High Track team will travel to Rio Vista today to compete in their district meet. By releasing these detailed schedule of events, Coach Richters hopes that this will foster support from the community to come out and cheer on our Gladiators and Lady Gladiators.

Italy Track athletes compete at regionals

Competing in a Region the size of France that is widely recognized as the best High School Track & Field region in the world. The qualifiers from the Italy HS Track Team did our school and community proud the last two days during the Region III Track Meet in Palestine.

The Italy High School Varsity and JV Track Teams represented the old gold and white in style by turning in stellar performance during the District Track Meet in Hubbard last Thursday. In fact, Italy’s athletes were doing so well, it didn’t take head track coach Stephen Coleman long to realize the Gladiators would be taking a bus to the Area Meet in Alvarado.

IHS Cross Country runners compete in Regionals

On Saturday, November 7, 2009 Italy High School sent two students to the Region 3 Class 1A Cross Country meet in Humble, Texas. Heath Clemons and Kaitlyn Rossa earned their spots in this competition with their top ten performance at the District Cross Country Meet in Wortham.

Image: Justin Buchanan throws for the Gold — Italy competed in the District track meet in Hubbard Wednesday and Thursday putting in strong performances all around the Hubbard stadium. Two Varsity Gladiators and two Lady Gladiators advanced to Area and the JV Boys won the 2009 District Championship.

Italy was challenged by fierce competition at the District track meet in Hubbard this year. A 2-day event, Italy competed against Dawson, Cayuga, Itasca, Dallas Gateway, Crossroads, Wortham, Waxahachie Advantage, Dallas Faith Family and Hubbard. But after the discus landed and the triple jump sand had settled, the Mighty Gladiators had left their marks.

IJH competes at District track meet

Image: The Italy Junior High is ready to race at the Distirct meet — The 7th grade girls earned 3rd place, the 7th grade boys took 3rd place, the 8th grade girls won 7th place and the 8th grade boys finished in 4th place against Italy’s district competition Tuesday in Hubbard.

The Italy Junior High Track teams finished their season at the District track meet in Hubbard. Fighting the bitter cold and an undersized rosters, the 7th grade girls and boys along with the 8th grade girls and boys teams ran circles around the competition.

One thing is for sure, the coaching staff at Italy High School is passionate about their sports. And Coach Robert Sollers as well as the other track coaches are no different. With Italy’s track season underway, Coach Sollers wanted to let all the fans know how well the teams have finished.
