Gladiator Athletic Booster Club is inviting all supporters of the program to attend a meeting Monday, November 9, 2015 at 6:30pm in IHS Library. We will be discussing the concession stand for basketball and the Fall banquet we will be having this year for our Fall athletes. Please come in through front door. Hope to see everyone there.
The Italy Junior High football game is rescheduled for this evening at 6:30pm.
The JV will play Hillsboro immediately following the JH game here in Italy. These changes are being made to make sure we could get the games in prior to the expected rain tomorrow. The games are in Italy.

The Mayor of Italy has called a Town Hall meeting for Monday, November 2nd at 6pm. The meeting will be located in the Italy Boze Community Center at 161 W. Main Street, Italy.
Marcus Eugene (Mac Mac) Surles, Jr. 20, of Italy, Texas passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 in Italy, Texas.
Orders & Payment will be accepted through Friday, November 6.
Shirts will be delivered after Wednesday, November 11.
The Italy ISD will honor the military at a Veterans Day program planned for Wednesday, November 11, 2015. The ceremony will be held in the old Italy High School Gymnasium and is scheduled for 9:00am. All veterans along with the entire community is welcome to attend.

This year’s UIL area band competition for your Italy Gladiator Regiment Band will be hosted by Midway Middle School in the Waco area. It is important to note that admission for the contest will be $5 per person.

The UIL has postponed The Area Band Competition scheduled for Saturday. They are currently working on the reschedule time and date. We will notify you of changes and updates as we are informed.
Plans are moving forward for the Fall 2015 edition of the Italy Community Wide Garage Sale this weekend (October 24 from 8am to 1pm). So far we have 4 families having Garage Sales at their home this Saturday.
Epiphany Catholic Church (434 S. Ward Street, Italy) will have it’s annual Fall Festival on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 9:00am to 8:00pm — food, live music, games, soccer and rides!
Stagecoach Cowboy Church, 356 FM 55 just south of Waxahachi, invites the community to come and enjoy the fun at their Fall Festival on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The 2015 Italy Gladiator Cross Country team has advanced to regionals for the first time in many years. It has been a learning curve for Team Italy that managed to overcome all the ups and downs that can be associated with cross country running such as hills, pot holes, and cattle.
There will be a fan bus for Italy High School students who would like to attend the football game in Hubbard Friday. The bus will leave the football field at 6 on Friday. Permission slips will go home with high school students Tuesday and must be returned, to Mrs. Ballard, by the close of business on Wednesday. Students should pay close attention to the weather for Friday and dress appropriately.

Bring your bags of items to Central Baptist Church, 113 S. Ward St., in the Fellowship Center. You can help pack the boxes if you want to!
The Italy ISD Board of Trustees will have their regular monthly meeting on Monday, October 19, 2015. The meeting will be held in the Italy High School cafeteria at 300 S. College Street, Italy at is slated for a 7pm call to order.
Ellis County citizens participated in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Event on Saturday, September 26, 2015. After cleaning out their medicine cabinets of expired and unused Prescription and Over-the-Counter medications, and dropping them off at one of the Prescription Drug Take Back Locations around the county for an environmentally safe and proper disposal.
Parents and Community: The following information is being provided to help understand a situation that occurred today. At approximately 1:09 PM employees of the high school became aware of a domestic disturbance on Park St. The Italy police department was notified. The decision was made to enter a Code Yellow Lock Down. This type lock down prevents students, and community members from leaving and/or entering the building. During the lock down the faculty and staff ensured all doors were secured and students were safe.
The Italy FFA’s annual Fruit Sales campaign is underway. Delicious fruit baskets, nuts and cheeses are available and all proceeds benefit the Italy High School’s Agriculture Program.
The Italy FFA Meat and Dessert Sales Campaign is winding down. Order deadline is set for Monday, October 19th.
Saturday evening, October 24th, the IHS Freshman Class will host a junior high Halloween dance. The dance will begin at 6:00pm and end at 9:00pm and will be held in the old gym at the Italy HS/JHS campus.
Italy High School will be hosting our annual Veteran’s Program on November 11 and is asking for your loved ones pictures to be put in our slide show.
[Sadly, was rained out]…….Italy will once again have the Italy Main Street Market & Community Wide Garage Sale on Saturday, October 24, 2015. The focal point of this event will be an opportunity for community members in and around Italy to set up mini-garage sale booths in Italy’s downtown Pavilion. Citizens are urged to have garage sales at their home as well. It will be a great opportunity for you to clean out a closet or two as well as finding your next piece for that DIY Pinterest project you have been wanting to do.

Dr. Ervin Alfred Byers, age 85, of Italy, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 peacefully at his home while surrounded by family.

Jack Guthrie, age 91, of Italy, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Italy. He was born October 4, 1924 in Avalon to Alvin W. and Elfie (Green) Guthrie. Jack was a loving father, grandfather and great/great grandfather. He was the pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Italy for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Guthrie, December 21, 2009.
Italy ISD offers services to gifted and talented students in a variety of formats. If your student is not currently identified as gifted and talented, and you believe that your child shows these tendencies, then you may nominate him/her for the screening process which is divided into three elements: standardized test of mental ability, teacher judgment based on observation and characteristics, and standardized achievement test scores (if available).
Stafford Elementary Library will host its annual Scholastic Book Fair the week of October 12-16. The fair will be open Monday-Thursday from 7:45 a.m. until 3 p.m. and on Friday from 7:45-12 p.m. in the library.
Randy fought a long brave battle with Head & Neck cancer and was called home to rest on Friday October 2, 2015. His family would like to express how very blessed and honored Randy and his family were by all of the love, support, and prayers they have received the last few years from their wonderful family, friends, church family, and coworkers.
Performances will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 23, 24 and 25th and will be held in the historic Chautauqua Auditorium at Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie.

This will be the Junior Varsity’s last game and a big game for the Varsity Lady Gladiators. I’m asking that the community come out and pack the Dome in Black and Gold!!!!!!! This is a huge game for the girls, so please support our Seniors in their last home game against Frost!
