Free H1N1 Shot Clinic

There will be a free H1N1 Shot Clinic on Thursday, January 28 at the Stafford Elementary Cafeteria. This clinic is open to the community. The shots will be administered between the hours of 9:30am to 1:00pm. Ages 6 months and older are eligible to receive this inoculation.

Having Fun In December

Once again, the state of Texas has lots of activities to choose from. Tree Lighting Ceremony brightens the holiday spirit

The City of Italy’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, December 6 at the Cornerstone in downtown Italy included the singing of Christmas carols, hot chocolate and prayers as the Italy Ministerial Alliance and the City of Italy pray that you and your family have a most joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Tomorrow our little town will be bustling with fun and excitement. There will be a Christmas parade and lots and lots of booths and food galore. I even spotted a pick up truck loaded with bicycles. You guessed it-I am talking about Italy’s Annual Christmas Festival.

Rescheduled Horse Show

Halloween is over, but not at the Flying Dollar Ranch! Due to a rain cancellation last weekend, the Halloween Schooling Horse Show and Playday was postponed to Saturday, November 7 at the Flying Dollar Ranch on 230 Chambers Drive in Italy. So, get your horse’s costume ready!

Flu Shot Clinic scheduled September 29

The Italy ISD Student Health Director has announced that there will be a Flu Shot clinic on Tuesday, September 29 at the Italy High School Campus. The shot will be administered by Italy Family Medicine and will cost $20.00. The clinic begins at 8:30am.

IHS Class of 1989 – 20th year reunion plans

Image: We were so cool we had to wear shades! — Friday night, September 25, the Class of 1989 will meet at the IHS Homecoming Game, 7:30 p.m. at Willis Field in Italy. We would like to meet at the game and sit together as a class. Just like old times!

Can you believe it has been 20 years?? IHS Homecoming is Friday, September 25th. We really hope to have a successful reunion – and for it to be a success, we need you to be there! We would like to meet at the game and sit together as a class. Saturday, September 26, we’ll Party like it was 1989!

Holly Michelle Simon and William Eric Bradley were married September 5, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Milford. Michael Chambers performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Ramona and Mick Simon of Italy. The bridegroom is the son of Tianne and Mike Bradley also of Italy.

Strange activity at local doll factory reported

Just like last year, drivers on Hwy 77 have reported seeing strange lights and hearing weird noises at the Kilemol Doll Factory and Meat Packing Plant. It is within a stone’s throw or spitting distance from the Italy Cemetery which could automatically give someone the creeps.

Hot Air Balloons and Much, Much More

What a fun and wonderful weekend at Midway Regional Airport. I am talking about the aviation extravaganza that took place June 19th through June 21st. It was three days of hot air balloons, skydivers, helicopters, gliders and airplanes.

BBQ Cook-Off and Washer Tournament with Live Entertainment

On Saturday, May 30 there will be a benefit event at the Ellis County Expo Building on 287 bypass in Waxahachie. Please mark your calendars. The event will include a Washer Tournament, a BBQ Cook-off and will feature live music by several local bands and music artists. This all day event will benefit the 14U Texas Travelers softball team of Ellis County.

Country Gospel Festival Came to Italy

April 11th, The Country Gospel Festival was in full swing at the Wayne Boze building about 6:00 PM. As you approached the front of the building you could hear beautiful music flowing through the front doors.

Blue Ribbon Winner – Sydney Lowenthal

The Ellis County Art Association was proud to sponsor the 2009 Ellis County Youth Art Exhibit that took place the first of April. Touted to be one of the most impressive youth art events in North Texas, it is a show case for original art by children residing in Ellis County enrolled in public, private or home school grades K through Twelve.

Saturday, April 11th at the Milford City Park lots of happy children were hunting for eggs. Everywhere you looked there were eggs to be found. Yes, I am talking about the Miford Community Easter Egg Hunt.

Country gospel festival coming to Italy

Community Wide Easter Egg Hunt in Milford

Milford is the place to be at on Saturday, April 11th! There will be eggs galore for children of all ages to find. Everyone is invited to meet at the First Baptist Church in Milford located at 101 Pecan Street at 11:00 a.m. and then head over to the park for the big Easter Egg hunt.

The Mayor’s Easter Egg Hunt

Calling all kids ten years old and younger! You are invited to The Mayor’s Easter Egg Hunt on April 11th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dunlap Library downtown Italy, Texas. There will be over forty eight hundred eggs for everyone to find. Which are being donated by the Park Board Committee, local businesses and citizens of Italy.

Ellis County Expo Claims Italy Winners

The smell of hay, mud and water filled the Expo building off of Hwy 287 this weekend. For some it became the smell of success. Italy FFA and Ellis County 4H students of all ages (9-19 years old) were taking care of business.

Ellis County Youth Expo Begins This Week

Area students from the local 4H club and FFA chapter will converge on the Ellis County Youth Expo in Waxahachie off of 287 today and will show prize winning animals, award winning projects and creative arts through Saturday. Everyone is invited to come see the students and their wonderful projects. Support these students and enjoy the BBQ and the auction on Saturday.

Chemical fire contained in Avalon

Tonight at approximately 8:30 p.m., emergency personnel from around the county responded to a chemical fire at the Phillip Service Corporation (PSC) plant located in Avalon. Homes had to be evacuated with a couple of Avalon residents taking shelter at the Italy Fire Department. The fire was quickly contained around 9:00 p.m.
