[Sadly, was rained out]…….Italy will once again have the Italy Main Street Market & Community Wide Garage Sale on Saturday, October 24, 2015. The focal point of this event will be an opportunity for community members in and around Italy to set up mini-garage sale booths in Italy’s downtown Pavilion. Citizens are urged to have garage sales at their home as well. It will be a great opportunity for you to clean out a closet or two as well as finding your next piece for that DIY Pinterest project you have been wanting to do.
On Saturday, September 26, 2015 the Chautauqua Auditorium and Getzendaner Park of Waxahachie, Texas will present “Chautauqua Celebrates Flight” from 9am to 5pm.
The annual George Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund barbecue dinner will be held Friday, October 2, 2015 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Italy High School Cafeteria. Cost for the meal is $12 per person. The meal will be catered by Bubba’s of Ennis.
The 23rd annual “350 Benefit” will be held on Saturday, October 17. Prime Rib dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., with dancing until 11:30 p.m.
The Masons of the Italy Lodge #647 will have BBQ for sale on Sunday, September 6th beginning at 10:30am. The sale will continue until they are all sold out. The sale will be held in front of the lodge on Main Street in Italy.

I hope everyone can come out and support this great program which gives back to the kids every year. We are switching it up a little this year by having some of the Italy High School playoff softball girls play with both the Police Officers and Firemen this year. This should add some excitement to the game and it gives the graduating seniors one more chance to play on their field. We encourage everyone to come out and have some fun and watch the Fireworks display after the game.
“Meet at the Well,” the worship band for the Celebrate Recovery ministry of Italy, is releasing an album of praise music for the recovering soul. The nine-track album has music from the three-piece group that has led worship together for two years right here in Italy.
We invite Italy senior adults to a cookout hamburger lunch at Central Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 24 at noon. Come and enjoy the fellowship of other seniors. There is no program for this luncheon, just the simple joy of good company. Stay as long as you like. You are welcome to bring a side dish or dessert, but come and eat either way. We’ll see you there!

Instead of holding the event at the Waxahachie Sports Complex, the event will be held at Robbie E. Howard Eighth Grade Center, 265 Broadhead Road in Waxahachie on May 30, 2015.
The Relay For Life of Central Ellis County extends a special invitation to all cancer survivors and caregivers to attend this year’s Relay on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Waxahachie Sports Complex. Stagecoach Cowboy Church is planning a Horseless Rodeo on Saturday, April 18th for kids 12 & under at the Stagecoach Cowboy Church Arena. Hot dogs and fixin’s will be served beginning at 5:00pm with the Rodeo beginning at 6:00pm. Meal and Rodeo is Free!
Relay For Life of Central Ellis County has set a date for their 1st Annual Craft Fair. Booth spaces are limited so register as soon as you can.
Come out to the Sokol Activity Center located at 2622 E Hwy 34 just east of Ennis, February 7, 2015 1:00 PM – 10:30PM. Listen and dance to 5 polka bands! This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The Relay For Life of Central Ellis County will be held on May 30, 2015 at the Waxahachie Sports Complex from 6:00 p.m. until midnight. All Ellis County residents are invited and encouraged to attend.

The 22nd Annual George E. Scott Memorial Scholarship Dinner was held last Friday night before the Homecoming football game in the school cafeteria. The catered meal by Bubba’s Barbecue of Ennis featured brisket, sausage, potato salad, beans, bread and tea.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDot) will hold a public meeting regarding the proposed widening of I-35E from 2.17 miles south of FM 566 (Hill/Ellis County Line) to US 77 south of Waxahachie. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Italy High School Cafeteria, 300 College Street, Italy, Texas 76651. The meeting will be held in an open house format from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

The third annual Guns & Hoses Softball Tournament is just around the corner! This family-fun, community event has something for everyone and benefits Italy’s Shop With A Hero program. Vendor applications are being accepted now. Join in on the fun by setting up a booth during the event.
The Italy Cemetery Association is asking for the community to help clean up the cemetery. A work day is planned for Saturday, June 7th. Volunteers are needed with chain saws and weed eaters.

The IHS Junior class will sponsor a Valentines Dance for 6th, 7th and 8th grade Italy ISD students. The dance will be held at the old IHS gym on Saturday, February 15th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. There will be a DJ and concessions.
Michael Dean Entertainment will be performing Karaoke at the Rockett Ranch Café and Music Hall in Milford starting January 24th and continuing every Friday night thereafter.
