In continuing with tradition at Italy High School, the Class of 2012 was honored by the Italy School Board, Administration and the Italy Ministerial Alliance on Sunday night at First Baptist Church.

This year the students of Italy Junior High and High School will get a chance to display their talents at the First Annual IHS/IJHS Talent Show. This event will take place on Thursday, May 10th at 6:30 pm in the Band Hall.
Italy High School principal, Lee Joffre, has release the testing schedule for End of Course (EOC) testing for the week of May 7th through May 10th. All freshman and some 8th grade students are required to take an EOC if they are enrolled in Algebra I, Algebra II, World Geography and Biology. Also, any student that is in a Chemistry class is required to take an EOC Field Test.
Friday, May 4 there will be a Fan Bus departing at 5:00pm from the Italy High School Dome parking lot for the Lady Gladiator Softball playoff game at Mildred High School just east of Corsicana. The invitation to ride via the Fan Bus is open to all students in grades 7th and up. Students will be responsible for admission fee into the game as well as any food purchase.
If you didn’t make the trip to Waco last night to see the Lady Gladiators battle it out with the Troy Trojanettes you missed a great “display.” It was a display of heart and determination by the Lady Gladiators, a display of calm and calculation by the coaches, and lastly display of love and support by the fans! It was a GREAT day to be a Lady Gladiator and a GREAT day to be a Lady Gladiator Fan!!

The Italy High School junior class has worked countless hours raising money for the 2012 prom. They will enjoy the fruits of their labor this Saturday evening, April 28 at the Midlothian Conference Center. The prom, themed The City of Lights, will be a night to remember for these students.
Italy High School principal Lee Joffre has announced the STAAR/TAKS testing schedules for the junior high and high students for the week of April 23 thru April 27. To give each group of students the optimal testing environment several students will have late arrival schedules during this testing week.
The smell of delicious grilled hamburgers filled the air at the Italy High School ball fields on Tuesday night as local volunteers flipped patties, sliced onions and filled up to-go plates with burgers and all the fixings complete with chips, desserts and a drink. It was tasty and all for an economical price and a good cause.
Italy High High School will host a hamburger meal fundraiser on Tuesday, April 17th in conjunction to the final home softball and baseball games of the season. The burgers will be cooked at the hamburger stand next to the field house and will be served beginning at 4:30pm. Swing by on your way to the softball and baseball games!

The cast of Kamikaze Kate from Italy High School went to the Zone One-Act-Play competition in Cleburne, Texas on March 21, 2012. Italy competed against Whitney, Axtell, and Clifton and placed Alternate, with many awards for the cast and crew.

Italy Junior High Boys and Girls track teams gave it their all at the recent Itasca Jr High Track Meet. They ran with passion and had some incredible finishes. Participating schools in the event were Italy, Itasca, Rice, Blum, Dawson and Maypearl. Coached by Jeff and Heather Richters, the Gladiators took the track by storm.
Last Thursday evening was a celebration of hard work and determination for students of Italy Junior High School as fifteen 8th grade students were sworn in as members of the National Junior Honor Society-Italy Chapter. Their induction is just a stepping stone of things to come for these students.
With the district tennis meet nearing, Italy Tennis held consecutive practice matches with Milford on Wednesday and St. Joseph Catholic School on Thursday.
Friday, March 16 marked Kaytlyn Bales’ fourth trip to the State Powerlifting Meet in Corpus Christi. After hard work and dedication, Kaytlyn medaled 4th place in the competition. This was Kaytlyn’s fourth medal in four years.

Due to the rescheduling of the baseball game Tuesday, the Gladiator Band Boosters will hold the drawing for the Texas Ranger baseball tickets Friday at 10:35 a.m. at the high school. The drawing will be held during morning announcements.
The Lady Gladiator Softball team would like to extend an invitation to the community to come and join their efforts to raise money for cancer research. On Tuesday, March 20 Wednesday, March 21 the Lady Gladiators will take on the Maypearl Lady Panthers in a district matchup beginning at 6:00pm 6:30pm. All proceeds from this softball game will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
