Driving Simulator Improves Employee Safety

The Texas Association of Counties is providing specialized safety training for Ellis County employees this month, utilizing a driving simulator that offers county employees a unique experience to prepare for unexpected driving situations.

Wednesday Services Cancelled at Central Baptist

Central Baptist Church has cancelled all services for Wednesday, February 9th. There will be no RAs, GAs or Mission Friends also. Jeremy Beggs, Youth Minister, will open the Cornerstone for the youth that want to come tonight.

Krispy Kreme donuts here February 18

The youth of Central Baptist Church are taking orders for Krispy Kreme doughnuts that will be available on Friday, February 18th. Orders must be made by Thursday, February 17th, 3:00pm. On that Friday the doors will open at 6:50 a.m. If you want to guarantee your doughnuts, you must pre-order.

Notice to parents and students of Italy High School

Tanya Parker, Italy High School principal, has announced that Monday, February 7, 2011 the benchmark testing schedule will be in effect. Students are to report to their 3rd period class at first bell (8:02am). All seniors who are not required to take benchmark tests will need to report to school at 11:00am.

Monday was the one-hundredth day of school for the students at Stafford Elementary. To celebrate this event the pre-k, kindergarten and first grade classes came together and enjoyed some activities using the number one-hundred.

Agenda: Italy Park Board Meeting, February 1, 2011

The City of Italy Park Board will have their monthly meeting (rescheduled from January 4 and January 18) on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in the Council Chambers of the Italy Municipal Building (105 W. Main Street, Italy, Texas). Meeting time is 5:30pm. Agenda items include discussion of the recent Christmas Festival and project planning for 2011.

Due to bleak weather forecast Italy basketball games rescheduled

With the winter weather heading full steam towards North Texas the decision has been made to move games scheduled for Tuesday night against Rio Vista to be played tonight (Monday, January 30th). The Lady Gladiator varsity game will begin tonight at 5:00pm followed by the varsity boys. There will not be any JV games due to this emergency change in schedule.

Wednesday, a man was seen carrying a big wooden cross around our little town of Italy. He sported a rhinestone studded cowboy hat and looked to be quite a character. His name is Chuck Johnson and he carries a big cross around America to remind folks about Jesus.

Burn ban lifted

With the Keetch-Byrum Drought Index reading for Ellis County at only 186, Ellis County Commissioners voted unanimously to lift the ban on outdoor burning.

The Silver Spurs Silver Spurs 4-H Horse Club of Ellis County earned numerous awards at the Johnson County 4-H Horse Committee horse judging competition at the Diamond-W Arena in Alvarado on Saturday, January 15.

Trinity Mission welcomes Paula Zalucki

Paula Zalucki is Trinity Mission’s new administrator. She has been at Trinity Mission for about two weeks. Recently Zalucki completed the requirements to be licensed as a nursing home administrator in the states of Texas and New Mexico. She has been a healthcare executive with more than 24 years experience in hospitals, multi-hospital systems and nursing care facilities.
