Letter to the Editor: In Appreciation

Words are not enough to thank everyone for their help and support for the benefit fundraiser for me. When I was diagnosed with cancer, it was devastating. Then, when the treatments forced me to give up my employment, it was even more devastating. I appreciate everyone that helped organize the event, prepare the food, work during the benefit, our amazing DJ and those that came to support me. A big thanks to Dart Container and Chicken Express in Waxahachie for their donations. I also want to thank the Waxahachie Daily Light and Italy Neotribune for printing my story. I appreciate everyone’s prayers and ask that you continue to pray for my healing.

Elmerine Bell – Citizen of the Month of August

Image: Elmerine Bell — Elmerine Bell said, “Italy is the biggest little town in Italy. It has a rich history. There are wonderful stories that people need to know about Italy. Wonderful individuals, dynamic personalities and just plain country living. It is where everybody takes care of everybody else and that is the feeling of the entire town.”

“I am not very comfortable accepting accolades. I do what I do because I love helping other people and getting involved. I prescribe to the old African proverb that says it takes an entire village to raise a child. I was reared in Italy, I feel like I need to give back because this whole community helped in developing me,” said Elmerine when asked what she thought of being ‘Citizen of the Month’.
