The Italy Gladiator Regiment Band will be recognized at the school board meeting on Monday, November 18th at 7pm. The band made Italy history this year by being the first ever to advance to the area finals. We want to take this time to show our appreciation to all involved and hope to see everyone there!

A liquified petroleum gas pipeline exploded just south of Milford off of FM 308 and Highway 77 this morning around 9:30 a.m. with Milford residents and students being evacuated to nearby Italy.

Milford — Around 9:30 a.m. this morning, Thursday, November 14, dispatcher sent Italy Fire Personnel as well as multiple fire companies in the surrounding area to converge on FM 308 south of Milford with reports of a gas line explosion.
Italy ISD administration has been informed by the Italy Fire Department of a gas line explosion between Mertens and Milford. In a collaborative effort between emergency personnel of Italy, Milford and Forreston and Italy ISD, the Milford citizens and Milford ISD students are being evacuated to the Italy ISD dome and George Scott gymnasium.

There were many happy faces and shiny cowboy boots on October 19, as competitors in the Ellis County Equine Association gathered for their year-end banquet at the Grasshopper Ranch in Palmer to receive a menagerie of custom made awards in honor of their hard work to win championships throughout the 2013 ECEA horse show season.

Zella Margaret Miller Poe, age 85, of Italy passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at her home. She was born October 28, 1928 in San Antonio to Edwin H. and Cora E. (English) White. She was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Italy. Zella retired from the Army and Air Force Exchange Service after more than 20 years of employment.
The Italy ISD’s high school and elementary campuses will honor the military at a Veterans Day program planned for Monday, November 11, 2013. The ceremony will be held in the old Italy High School Gymnasium and is scheduled for 9:00am. All veterans along with the entire community is welcome to attend.

Cleo Vernon Clingan, age 60, of Italy, Texas went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday October 29, 2013. He was born on July 26, 1953 in Independence, Kansas to Cleo L. Clingan and the late Bobbie Kimbro Clingan.

The George Scott Scholarship fundraiser was held at Italy High School Friday night. Family members of George Scott and several scholarship recipients welcomed members of the community and Italy High School ex-students when they arrived at the cafeteria. Pastor Lamar Jones has been the Youth Minister for the last five years at St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church in Waco. While under his leadership the youth group grew to about 60 kids, all active in singing in the choir and participating in the Junior Stewards program.

On October 12th, 2013, forty-four students from the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School participated in an invitational Unified Tae Kwon Do Tournament in Giddings, Texas. Students performed patterns and also sparring with a chance to win 2-trophies.
Vicky Boone Casting is conducting a state-wide search for athletic male high school students to play two lead roles in an upcoming Paramount Pictures film. This film, Pale Blue Dot, is co-written and directed by Academy Award-nominated Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air and Thank You for Smoking).
