The Italy ISD will have their monthly meeting on Monday, February 24, 2014 in the Italy High School cafeteria at 300 S. College Street, Italy. The meeting is scheduled for 7:00pm.
Stafford Elementary principal, Jonathan Nash has submitted the following letter announcing his resignation to his students. He wanted to let the students know that he wishes the best for them and wrote this letter for them. His last day at Stafford will be Friday, February 21st.

The Italy Lions Club will be raffling off a backyard smoker built by the Italy High School Ag Department’s dual-credit welding class. The tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00. The raffle winner will be drawn after the conclusion of the annual Lions Club Bar-B-Que cook off this weekend (Saturday, February 22, 2014).

The IHS Junior class will sponsor a Valentines Dance for 6th, 7th and 8th grade Italy ISD students. The dance will be held at the old IHS gym on Saturday, February 15th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. There will be a DJ and concessions.

Emily Stiles of Italy High School was one of 14 high school seniors from Ellis County recognized at the Rebecca Boyce Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot’s Tea held Sunday afternoon in Waxahachie.

The Italy Gladiators finished their district campaign tied for second place with rival Itasca. Both Italy and Itasca have qualified for the playoffs but will battle in a game on Friday to decide playoff seeding. The winner will enter the playoffs as the two seed and the loser goes in as a three seed.
The Italy Lions Club BBQ Cook-off is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 21st and 22nd. This event is sanctioned by the Lone Star BBQ Society. As in years past, the cook-off will be staged at the Upchurch Ball Park at 201 E. Dilworth Road in Italy.
Italy ISD, Milford ISD as well as Avalon ISD administration has announced that each will have a delayed start time on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Classes will begin at 10:00am. Buses will run two hours late from their regular schedules.
The Italy Lady Gladiator bi-district playoff basketball game against Era, to be played at Saginaw, Boswell High School, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 12. The game will played at the original location with the originally scheduled tip-off time of 7:30 p.m.
The Italy Gladiator (varsity boys) away basketball game versus Dallas Gateway, that was originally scheduled for tomorrow night, has been moved up to tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. off Hampton Road in Dallas.

Lots of fun and lots of awards to be had at Stafford Elementary’s first semester award assembly. Of course, as usual, the cafeteria was filled with proud grandparents, parents, friends and family. Everyone was there to see their loved one come up on stage and receive their award. There were very many names called and very many awards given.
The Waxahachie Running Club, in conjunction with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, are hosting a charity run on Saturday, April 12, 2014 to benefit the West ISD Special Education Department.
Students, several from Italy, traveled to San Antonio to compete in an invitational tournament hosted by Kim’s Academy in San Antonio. These students were from the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School located at 125 W Elm-Hillsboro, Texas. Four of these students returned home with trophies they earned in patterns as well as sparring.
The Italy Neotribune has just received word that tonight’s varsity basketball match-up between the Italy boys and Arlington Summit has been cancelled. Inclement weather and icy road conditions have forced this cancellation. Once we hear if the game will be rescheduled, we will post it here.
Itasca defends home court to disrupt playoff seeding with the Lady Gladiators, ultimately, heading into a bi-district matchup against Era on Tuesday. The Gladiators fall short to the Wampus Cats by 1-point and now need to win Friday against Arlington Summit to keep from putting their expected playoff appearance at risk.
The Lady Gladiators will enter the playoffs as a third seed and are scheduled to challenge Era in a 7:30 p.m. bi-district championship game on Tuesday, February 11, to be played at Saginaw Boswell. Gladiators play an away district game against Arlington Summit Friday at 6:30 p.m.
