The Italy City Council will have a called meeting on Monday, September 17, 2012. The meeting will be held in the Italy Municipal Building’s Council Chambers at 105 West Main Street in downtown Italy. The meeting will begin with a public hearing regarding the city’s proposed 2012-2013 annual operating budget and will continue on with several agenda items pertaining to the budgets, tax rates and personnel policies.

Greg Anderson was born and raised in Italy, Texas and has lived here for forty-four years. He was very shocked when his daughter Brianna called him in Dallas and told him he was Citizen of the Month.

The Silver Spurs 4-H Horse Club of Ellis County brought home several impressive state placings from the State 4-H Hippology Contest held at the Scurry Rosser High School, in Scurry, Texas, on August 25, 2012. One hundred and eight 4-H members representing 16 counties across the state of Texas competed in this event.

Another hot month in Texas brings with it many birthdays to be celebrated at Trinity Mission. There were nine birthdays in August. One birthday girl turned one hundred and two years old. That was no other than Buna Guthrie and she is very proud of it.

The Ellis County Equine Youth Association invites all area horse kids to participate in the ECEYA Fundraiser and Fun Horse Show on Saturday, September 8, at the Flying Dollar Ranch in Italy, Texas. The show begins at 9 a.m. and includes halter, western, English, leadline and speed events.

The Italy Police Department will join the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and law enforcement officials from across the state to kick off the annual campaign to reduce impaired driving during the Labor Day weekend.
