On November 10, 2010, the Italy High School FCCLA club hosted a Fall Festival benefiting the North Texas Food Bank, which distributes food throughout our community. The group collected $188.65 in change. Just 14 cents will buy a pound of food for hungry families.

Italy Elementary and Italy High School CBI students recently participated in the Special Olympics Bowling tournament held at USA Bowl in Dallas. According to Mrs. Young (High School CBI teacher) and Mrs. Cox (Stafford Elementary CBI teacher) the students were excited and ready to bowl and I would say they were right on target by all the ribbons and medals they brought home.

The ceremony will be held in the old Italy High School Gymnasium and is scheduled for 1:00pm. All veterans along with the entire community is welcome to attend.

If you have ventured into Waxahachie on Saturday mornings, you might have come across the Farmers Market two blocks away from the courthouse (410 S. Rogers Street). Vendors from Ellis County offer fruits and vegetables, quilts, handmade crafts, jewelry, fresh baked bread, spices, photos, knives/swords and jewelry. In other words, a great assortment of holiday gift items.

There were only two birthdays at Trinity Mission for the month of October but that didn’t stop anyone from having lots of fun. The celebration was full of fun, ice cream and cake! Jack Guthrie and Virginia Roderick were the birthday folks this month.
Downtown Italy was the place to be on Halloween as huge crowds went trick-or-treating on main street receiving candy from local businesses.

Halloween, what a fun time everyone has for this occasion. Although I don’t know who has more fun than the folks at Trinity Mission. Each year they share their Halloween spirit with the Stafford Elementary students by putting on a fall festival complete with games, candy and lots of fun.
This year at Stafford Elementary the students were treated to “Trunk or Treat” coordinated by the Stafford Elementary PTO. The teachers, staff and lots of parents handed out lots of candy from the trunks of their cars and trucks. The back parking lot was filled with students and creatively decorated vehicles. They went all out!
When you walked down the hall towards Mrs. Aguado’s fourth grade class all you could see were carved pumpkins everywhere! There were spiders, snowmen, ghosts, mummies just all kinds of jack-o’-lanterns.
Lady Gladiator volleyball seniors Morgan Cockerham, Paola Mata and Alyssa Richards were honored before final home game against Covington.
Cayuga was picked to win but the Gladiators picked a fight, upsetting the Wildcats 20-16.
James and Joyce Hobbs have lived in Italy for three years and were delighted when their yard was chosen as “Yard of the Month.” It is very easy to see why. They have beautiful pumpkins, flowers and scare crows to bring in the fall season.
