Meet and greet the Gladiator Baseball and Lady Gladiator Softball players every Friday morning at 7:00 a.m. inside the Uptown Cafe in downtown Italy.

Mr. Papa teaches Spanish levels 1-3 and coaches tennis for Italy HS.

Gladiators come up on the short end of the bat in Frost with the Polar Bears surviving a late rally by Italy to win at home, 7-5.

This Sunday, March 29, Central Baptist Church will have a free breakfast for the men and boys of the Italy community. The hearty breakfast will be served in the CBC’s Fellowship Center beginning at 8:00am. There will be a guest speaker as well.

Johnny Jones assists in content mastery and coaches for Italy JH and HS.

The Relay For Life of Central Ellis County held a Team Captain’s meeting on March 19, 2015. The traveling trophy is awarded to the team that turns in the most money each month. The winner for March was the Dart team with $2.997.

Italy’s Jaclynn Lewis hits two over the fence in Frost to keep area body shops in business with teammates Madison Washington, Bailey Eubank, Hannah Washington, April Lusk and Lillie Perry also having hot bats in the district opener.

Mrs. Richards stays busy teaching multiple English subjects—including ESL—and leading Content Mastery. She also coaches for Italy JH & HS.

After a 4th place finish in district this season, the Italy Gladiators had 7 players receive all-district honors with sophomore Kenneth Norwood, Jr. earning 1st Team All-District.

Mrs. Joffre serves as the Italy Junior High & High School librarian.

On February 21st , students from the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School of Hillsboro traveled to Giddings to compete in an invitational tournament. Students competed in patterns as well as sparring.

Gladiator Athletic Booster Club is calling a meeting at Italy HS Library on Thursday March 26, 2015 at 6pm to discuss the upcoming athletic banquet. We welcome all who wish to participate and strongly encourage any senior parent of an athlete to attend. The senior parents will be in charge of decorating their athletes last year banquet at Italy HS. We will also discuss a few roles that will be available for next school year in the booster club.

Miss Vajdak teaches several classes including some career educational classes as well as agricultural education classes.

The Lady Gladiators have been doing the extra work with impressive tournament performances and by challenging larger schools in preparation for their district opener against Frost today.

The Italy ISD Board of Trustees will have their regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 23, 2015. The meeting will be called to order at 7:00pm in the Italy High School cafeteria at 300 S. College Street, Italy.

Stagecoach Cowboy Church of Waxahachie will be having a Church in the Dirt Revival March 20th thru 22nd. Faith, food and entertainment is on tap for the three day event. See attached flyer for details.

The Silver Spurs 4-H Club of Ellis County horse judging team added another placing at a major show to their list of 2015 successes while winning the 4th place overall junior team at the Houston Stock Show Horse Judging competition on March 9. Thirty seven teams and 107 individuals challenged their skills at judging horses in the events of halter, stock horse, western riding, hunt seat equitation, and hunter under saddle at the event held at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy.

Italy Baseball is off to a good start in district after a shutout win over Faith Family Academy, 14-0. Junior pitcher Ty Windham recorded 13 strikeouts thru five-innings in what was a dominant performance by the Gladiators.

The Italy Youth Athletic Association (IYAA) 5th-6th Grade Boys basketball team traveled the hardest road by playing 5 games in one day to earn 2nd place in the 2015 Hillsboro Boys Basketball Tournament.

Mrs. De La Hoya began working full time for Italy ISD this year. She assists in the special education department.

On Friday, March 13 at 8 pm. “Dateline NBC” channel 5 will be airing a 2 hour program on Shelley Nance. Shelley was a 2007 graduate of Italy High School who was a victim of homicide in Sept 2009 while a student of the Art Institute of Dallas.

Italy Gladiator Football’s John Byers and Coby Jeffords were selected to compete in this summer’s North American All Stars 5th Annual 2015 North Texas Bowl All-Star football game DFW East vs. West Classic.

Shattered Dreams is an educational experience that reminds us all of the dangers associated with drinking and driving. The community is invited to attend tomorrow’s (Wednesday, March 11, 2015) assembly at 10:00 a.m. in the old gym at Italy High School.

Blake Godwin, department chair for the Career And Technology Education courses at Italy ISD has been part of Italy for the last three years.

Mrs. Eaglen, a second year employee of Italy ISD, is working hard to make the yearbook a success this year and is gearing up to take 9 students to FCCLA state competition.

Jaclynn Lewis of Italy High School was one of 13 high school seniors from Ellis County recognized at the Rebecca Boyce Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot’s Tea held on Sunday, February 8, 2015.

Italy’s Lady Gladiators leave no doubt during the 2015 Tournament of Champions in Woodsboro. Italy posted 5 shutouts while scoring 70 total runs over the two-day event.

The 2014-2015 Italy Lady Gladiator basketball team left their mark in a big way on the 12-2A All-District list with senior Kortnei Johnson topping the list as District MVP and head coach Melissa Fullmer being named Coach of the Year!

Jeremiah Glover, Italy HS’s art teacher has worked hard to build on the art program that was in place when he arrived. In addition to teaching his art courses, Mr. Glover has taken and shared many event photos throughout the year.

David Graves has been part of Italy ISD for the past two years. He is part of an award winning band program and stays busy with several other responsibilities as well.

In January of 2009, Charlotte James’s life was forever changed. That was the month that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. That was the month she decided to fight cancer with every ounce of her being. She was determined to do whatever it took to beat cancer. She wanted to live – she did not want to be another statistic.

The IYAA Basketball season ends with our two Italy 5th and 6th Grade Boys teams squaring off on the rectangle for 5 periods of play and our two Italy 5th and 6th Grade Girls teams matching up against one another.

Jesus Perez challenges band students to go beyond their current abilities to develop into great musicians. Their ratings collectively show the work both Mr. Perez, his assistant director, and his students have done.

Members of the Silver Spurs 4-H Club successfully represented Ellis County at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo in Skillathon, Quiz Bowl and Horse Judging contests on February 19th-February 21 and brought home many awards.

Italy Gladiator fitted baseball caps are available for order by Friday, March 6, with the monies benefitting the JV and Varsity baseball program. Cap costs are $20.00 each. Forms are available and payments can be made at the receptionist’s desk inside Italy High School.

The Italy Youth Athletic Association (IYAA) welcomed teams from Whitney, Clifton and West into George E. Scott Coliseum on Saturday for three games of exciting youth basketball.

Final IYAA Baseball/Softball Signups will be Saturday, February 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. inside the old Italy gym (George E. Scott Coliseum). The usual $65.00 registration fee is required along with completed signup form for each child.
